I need to know something...
Why is it that I can appreciate a guy who drives a sleeper (like a 323 turbo) or a jdm car with 15 in spoon wheels (even if they look like 1991 csa's in flat black). I actually think these cars are cool and give them respect for being very performance oriented.
But when you turn the tables, these are the first guys to bitch about putting 19's and a big drop on a car.
"It decreases performance, it has no handling, it slows it down..."
You ever thought I know cutting my springs inhalf and putting on huge wheels were not for performance reasons but strictly cosmetic. And maybe that's what I want.
I'd say the sleeper guys were jealous but they would bitch and moan, so there must be some reason why everytime I post a pic of my car or a budies all the same people bitch.
Lets be honest here the majority of us started building cars to get noticed on the street. And my Benz on 19's gets alot more looks then a sleeper civic on winter rims.
And yes my car is slow, rides like shit, a bitch to keep clean, and I get hassled by the cops, but you what, you everyone goes out on the weekend it's not the sleeper your taking downtown.
And I don't want anyone to say I build car to show off , because my present car is the 7th show car I have built and I was building cars when most of you were playing with Lego. I lowered my 1st car over 10 years ago and have been doing it ever since and have always listened to the same stupid comment.
Anyways just wanted to vent!!!!!
So you can all stop moaning about Lowlife cars.

Well I was one of the first ones to bitch about lowlife on the first forum when you guys did your invation...I only want to hear one thing but none of you guys want to admit it: JUST ADMIT THAT LOWLIFE IT MORE OF A SHOW CREW THAN A GO CREW and that your street racing days are over.
I would never do the same thing with my benz but I enjoy looking at yours and I think most of your cars are nice looking.

I'll never bitch a car that's tasteful even if it has a body kit and 24's on it. LAst time in Miami I saw a new CL500 with Lorinser kit and chrome 20's and it was sweeeeeet.
There's some guys on the board with 18's on their Civics or Integras cars and it looks good, tasteful.
But take the same cars, add neons and chicken wire grills and f'n indiglo everything and hoodscoops on the roof and paint them lime green and put Troy Lee motocross graphics on them and they look stupid. THAT's what I hate, when you go f'n overboard with tons and tons of mods that just look dumb.
You just gotta know when to stop

18Turbo: Yes I respect the effort and I know most of them work hard to get what they have but I just want to make sure they all know(members and the rest of us) what they are: show car fans that don't have nothing do do with performance/street racing or whatever.
I hate when people from the west island talk about the lowlife cars saying they are fast and all when in fact they are not.
And don't get me started on that S2000 saying it's a fast car...yes it's fast but it would be even faster if ALL the money was at the right place.

The wrx I never got to see in person and i don't know all the details about that car so I can't really give my opinion right now.
Even if the S2000 is faster than 95% of cars on the street it doesn't make any difference in my opinion. It's like putting wiper pissers on a ferrari...it's still rice.
BMW318 and old goat: I can name cars that I don't like if you want but it's going to get out of hand for sure.;)

you should of seen it when i first started to post on this site... i mentioned that i had a low rider 65 buick.and going with hydros, ...man all these kids came on and said so much crap about it and that i should stop acting like i am a ganster and started calling me names like wanna be poser wack,..
some people dont even know who i am, dont know where i come from , where I HAVE WORKED BEFORE.
I WAS SO DICOURAGED CAUSE THESE GUYS WERE people that used to come where i used to work to fix up their ricer cars.
it just goes to show u not only the mentallity in this site but also on the streets. cause most people cant do what we do or even have what we got, cause they dont have the know how or the creativity to do this kind of stuff.
anyways when my ride is ready, i will certainly support LOWLIFE, also with my LOWKLASS crew.

Jesus, I don't care if they're fast cars or not (which, by the way, would probably beat a good 80% of the cars on this board), all I know is they have some damn sweet rides and I give much respect to them and their cars...as I do to people with sweet fast rides, some that I never have even seen, like mononctsi, 323Turbo, etc...
Yes, import tuning has definately split into two different directions: show and go. The cover car for this month's Import Tuner, which a lot of people hold as the gospel for our scene, is an Integra that has an air intake and a muffler, for example. I like both type of cars, and LOVE cars that have both...
I think this is a ridiculous bunch of bitching for nothing...

Lowlife is fine, everything is fine. I don't really see people complaining, however I will still always look at 16-21 year olds and laugh when I see them driving $30,000+ cars with a look on their face like they own the world. I've got no problems with 19's, 20's or 24's or 18's or 14's.
I like seeing what people do to their cars, and the ones I'm interested in I will talk about. Its as simple as that.

Because he's paying it out fully faster than you can make a 1/4 mile, and will be moding it seriously soon! Same thing with me.. Havein a little job, I was spending all my money on paying the car payments but now, I can think about starting modding it! The car I wanted to mod... understand?

I can easily spend $1000 on a old 1983 Civic HB, put in another $5000 worth of mods and be really happy with the car because that 's what I wanted to do..but would you spend a total of $6k for a 20 year old car? probably not..but I would!

BMW318, I bought this car because: I wanted a bran new car, a wanted a rwd, I wanted breaking power, I wanted handling, I wanted a 6 speeds tranny (**** overdrive) I wanted a car with potentiel and I wanted to pay less that 45K.
I also wanted a car that would last me for a long time...and ok maybe it looks better that a civic and I'm happy about it but that's not why a bought the car.
Also the insurence is alot lower than a BMW 325 (3 800 vs 2200)
My next car will probably be a BMW M3 when I'm 25...

Performance isn't everything. Don't get me wrong because I'm very much into the performance aspect, but I personally like to be proud of my car and how it looks in the driveway. I'm never happy until my car looks the way I like it to look.
And to all the people that are saying "why spend money on mags that make you go slower"...well maybe because it looks nicer focko! So maybe it makes 0.2 of a difference on the 1/4, who cares, and how is it any of your concern??? I think some of you people really need to get laid:eek:

I think that the whole scene should be more peaceful and we gotta keep playerhating and jealousy to the minimum.
If i see someone driving in a nice car, i'll give them thumbs up no matter what car it is. If it's a $3000 civic thats modified, or if it's a $40k benz with 19 inch rims... I'll still give them thumbs up cuz everyone has different tastes and everyone has different levels of income.
Just yesterday for example, i was on st charles around 4:45 pm gong towards the 20th and some guy in a 92-95 civic hatch gave me thumbs up as he saw me at the light. I gave him thumbs up too cuz he had a really cool paint job and his car looked like it was done up with taste. If everyone was like that there wouldn't be fighting...
As far as 16-21 year olds who act all tough when they ride around in a $30,000 car... that's just people living in a bouble. Especially if they listen to some rap songs that are all about 20 inch dubs and shit... it's gonna have an effect and they'll think they are hustlers moving keys! lol That's a stage that some people just go through.
No matter what car you have, there will be always someone who'll have a car that's 5-10 times more sick. We don't see or hear about those people since they are happy with where they are in life and they don't need to prove anything to anyone.
How many times has anyone seen me at julep or marche centrale? NONE, cuz got nothing to prove to anyone...

Hey hey watch it there... I don't have a car but I am 16, soon to be 17 and have a licsence... i don't post hater threads, just really stupid no sense off topic threads... but hey, I help out other people and have some use, if you know what i mean ;)
Again, most of us are alot closer to 30yrs old than 20yrs old. We build what we like. What we like NOW. I had a hybrid civic that was pretty fast, it was even turbo-charged before...not just looks you see. Now I drive a wagon. I like wagons. I think I have a nice one...Is it fast? Not really. It's not slow either and it will be faster again shortly. I also have big brakes (as of this week), sticky tires (ok, so they are 19" tires...)and a suspension that will allow me to negotiate corners at a very rapid pace. Is that all show? Some go? Who know? ;)
Anyway, the point here is that the sleeper guys tend to mock the show guys alot more than the reverse. Why is that?

The only reason why anyone would say something like this is because he/she is pissed off that some Lowlife cars will mop up 99% of the street cars around on their 19s. He probably got spanked in a race and when they both went back to park, the chicks came to Lowlife because they cars were actually NICE. RWDLover...I'm afraid you're worst nightmare isn't over yet. I'm not a hater or nothing...just saying that lowlife is a show crew (that should not be considered an insult). Maybe some of them are kinda fast but not as fast as they should be for the money invested.
If you think lowlife is a fast crew you really need to check the isrcrew.:eek: Most of the other crews are 16 years old kids withstock civic dx...of course they are going to be slower.

I agree with old goat as well.....i find that alot of people on this site and in the scene spend too much time hating....we are all together in this becuase of one thing. CARS! yeah ok, some like them stock, some like them with loud sound systems, some like them fast, some like them low but to tell you the truth, if ALL of them were the same, what good would that be? Wouldnt you get tired of looking at all different cars with the exact same things done to them?
I mean common, i like going to shows and watching sleepers rip the shit outta the track and against a car with a flashy paint job and mags sometimes but i also like walking around and checking out the cars that arent on the track that have a drop so low on it that i couldnt put my arm under the car even if i wanted too or a car with a playstation, TV and a 150 DB sound system....We all have the same pasion but in different ways.
Im 21 and ive had 6 cars, 4 in which ive played around with cause i just dont like them stock thats all. I love the car i have now....i painted it to have a nice apperence, i dropped it cause i like the look and the handling, i put a couple thousand in the sound system cause i love loud music and i played with the performance a bit just to play around with here and there. Thats my personal choice and i like it. Some people might like it too, some might not.
Thats what the whole scene is just broken down in different tastes but even if we dont like one or the other....we do all end up in the same place........on this site, at the JULEP and Lafleurs, at Car Fever, Full Throttle, SCP at the big "O"....Why dont we stop wasting time hating and all just enjoy playing with our cars?

What I am pointing out is that saying y u can beat 99 percent of the cars on this board isn't really that amazing. Assume that of the 2000 members, 1500 have cars. Are you saying that there are only 15 cars on this board that can crack 13.5?
Additionally, 13.5 just isn't that impressive to me, nor is it particularly hard to reach IN A NON-IMPORT APPLICATION. I just came back from a weekend event where 12 second cars were commonplace, and there were streetable 9 and 10 second cars. I am sorry, but I just don't like people getting ****y or whatever. I am glad you enjoy your car, but it certainly does not rule all.
And before you respond with "but it ****ing rules your car", think before you type. Who really cares if you can beat me or not. If I thought I could beat you, I would either completely ignore you or come out looking for it, wouldn't I?
I am certain there are probably over 200 cars on the island that could take a 13.5 second WRX.

I have no problem with a 13 second car, what I have a problem with is anyone caliming that their 13 second car is the bee's knees and can dust 99 percent of the cars on this board. I choose not to live in that fantasy world. This board is far from the be all and end all of racing that goes on in Montreal...it's a place where racers with pc's can talk about their hobby.
What I agree with is I could care less what cars Lowlife has, because it doesn't affect me. No one's crew affects me. I am glad that people can get together, form a club, and have fun with their cars. Beyond that, I could care less.

The import scene is made of slow civic 88 with 17" mag on it, IS300 Turbo, Silvia, Talon TSI, Integra..... every car is different and everybody as a reason to own is car, it can be $ , it can be by choice...but it's THEIR OWN CHOICE.

And about cutting springs. It depends on the car, but most cars have about four coils at the bottom at equal rate making it not bad at all to cut a coil off! As long as their good quality springs, and not stock springs it's fine.

This is all so stupid...I gave up after 2 or 3 posts. I've seen kindergarten arguements that have more intelligence and substance than this.

In stock form I can take your car, the white benz, the is300, and maybe the 1.8t and the civic.
2 weeks ago I took a golf 1.8T on the 40 and the guy told me after that he had an intake, exhaust and chip. He had little rmr sticker on the side window and some multi spokes mags. We stayed neck to neck from 140 to 160 and than I started to pull on him...I got in front just before 200.
There is also the white civic that is supposed to be fast but for some strange reason he always gets killed by slower cars. Maybe he can't drive...:dunno:
Most of thoes time were not done in street setup (full interior, big mags, sound system, etc.) It would be funny to race thoes cars on the street an see bumpers and bodykits fly around.:rolleyes:lol

The traction was good but it's hard to get used to the system (the lights go from yellow to green in 0.4 sec i think.):eek:
I only did 3 runs last night because I didn't want to kill my 17" even more. Next week or the week after I'm getting 15" tires to put on my other set of mags and then I'll race alot more.:)

No offence to the younger croud but when you get closer to the big 30, you're kind of done with the kid stuff and the ruff rides. We want something nice and it doesn't matter if it makes 0-60 in 7 or 8 sec instead of 5 or 6 sec. I loved my GSR with the JDM look but now I love my passat....Just like Criss with is civic/A4 and Daniel with is type-R/Benz and that goes for the rest of them.

and will probably be around for some time. The truth is we are
getting older, and although we still love cars, we are also
looking for different things... like comfort, prestige, 4WD,
4 doors etc... Although we can't please all the people who
enjoy our club we can still put together some half descent
cars.

I beat a chipped 1.8t GTI on the highway with 3 people in my car. And i was just driving a stock B4 passat VR6.

I also beet a stock jetta MKIII VR6 on the 40 and it looked as fast as the 1.8t.
I'm also faster than a stock 1.8t from 0-140 but the 1.8t+chip would be faster than me from a standing stop.

MonOncTsi, We never said that you don't have a fast car but that's not the point here. If I really wanted to only go fast I would spent10thousand and put 40thousand in the motor. But I much rather have a new car that can hold a coner still go and brake and look good doing it with 18" and a big drop.
I also love having a car that 100% reliable and running 13 everyday. brytag who are you and what do you drive?
