Either you refused to read what i've posted, or you're just plain retarded.
MSRP means nothing, it's a suggested price.
I'd like to start by thanking you for insulting me. It shows how much of a better person you are than me.
Now about the price difference in dealerships, thats because of GM's "Canadian Delivery Allowances / Cash delivery allowance" which is $3,000 on the Vibe.
This means that GM is offering dealerships a 3000$ rebate on those vehicles that they are supposed to pass on to the buyers.
If Toyota doesn't offer the same thing, Toyota reps cannot match the Vibe prices even if they REALLY wanted to.
I'm not saying dealerships are angels. I honestly think there is allot more leeway than they would like us to believe.
As for manufacturers, they do make a killing.
If you want an even better example, take the RX8.
We'll take the GT trim for this exercise.
$43,795 in Canada
$31,750 in USA
Take into account todays exchange rate.
$34,469 CND in USA (in Canadian funds)
That means for the same car, Americans pay $9,326 less than us Canadians.
I mean,
we all knew this, but it goes to show the amount of profit there is in making a car.
If as a manufacturer you can sell a vehicle for $10,000 less a few hundred km's away and still make profit, I wonder how much profit they make per vehicle.
I'm not against profit. But I do hate the way we get raped in Canada on vehicles.
