Smoke Test - Where in Montreal?

Vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks? If its vacuum leaks, take a propane torch. What you do is open the torch but don't light the flame. Roam around the engine bay. When the engine idle slows down, that's because its taking in the propane.

smoke test is really only for evap leaks..to find a leak in the canister or gas tank ect...if you have a boost/vacuum leak then your better of doing a pressure test..these can be done with home made pressure tester using a small compressor.

and for exhaust leak just run some sea foam through your intake via a vacuum line and you will find your exhaust leak fast enough!!

Ya, ive been looking at pressure testing. Seems easy enough to do and parts can all be sourced at Rona.

Having seen this on Youtube smoke testing seemed like a good idea...

right but the problem with smoke testing and intake track that is made for high pressure is that a smoke tester does not create a very large pressure maybe 2-3 psi at most!!! so if you end up having a boost leak in boost lets say 10-20 psi well then maybe the smoke tester is not opening up that looser coupler or cracked hose to let the smoke seep out..i cant hurt to try but getting your hands on a smoke tester is a little harder then to create a home made pressure tester with a small compresseur..

but if you dead set on using a smoke tester a fog machine is exactly the same..they both use vegetable oil to create smoke so you can make a home made smoke tester using a fog machine
