The B in BEDMAS means "brackets". And "brackets" means solving anything inside the bracket and any factors of that entire bracket.

So, when you perform (9+3), the answer is (12) as opposed to 12. So, you must first perform 2(12) as it is a bracket-operation as opposed to a multiplication.

Therefore, 2(12) is 24 and 48÷24 is 2.
