Rimac Unveils 1088HP Supercar

Electric power trains show enormous potential in high-performance cars. Croatian automaker Rimac Automobili demonstrated the best this technology has to offer, displaying the world’s first electric supercar, the Concept_One, at the Frankfurt show.

Tipping the scales at 1,650 kg, the car deploys the equivalent of 1,088 ponies, enough to hustle from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach top speeds of 305 km/h.

Also noteworthy is the prototype’s impressive 700-km operating range ensuring worry-free travel.

The power train is divided into four sub-systems, each consisting of a motor, an inverter and a speed reducer. Each unit drives a wheel and works independently from the others, which improves the car’s dynamics and creates an all-wheel-drive system.

The body is made entirely from carbon fibre, while the cabin is draped in two-tone leather and features a heads-up display and a cutting edge infotainment system.

The company’s founder, Mate Rimac, is known around the world for having transformed 1986 BMW 3-Series into a veritable electric rocket.
