Hey guys,

was looking at picking up either a Subaru Forester or a Volvo V70 both between the years of 2002-2005ish.

I've been reading a bit on the web and according to what I saw, both seem pretty reliable. I was wondering what you guys think? If you were in this situation, what would you buy? I would simply need it to be my daily driver...

ps: i do know about the V70R but i wont go in that direction...

Volvo, if you get a AWD V70, you will have so much fun in winter, you won't believe it !!! Sweeds know how to have fun in deep snow !!!
And storage is also a huge factor on the Volvo.

if you end up choosing the V70, let me know, i work at a Volvo Specialist garage.

Volvo gets my vote. Why don't you take the R ?

Lol!! Its stupid but I don't want my daily to be more fun then my project car.

Oh nice! Anything I should check when I'm looking at one?

i got a beaten up 94 volvo 850 as a winter beater, and let me tell you, i love this car. Mine is FWD, lacking compression, tranny issues, and i still enjoy driving it. So comfortable, everything seems well made, and it's not a PITA to work on. I cant imagine a good condition one hehe

Nice! I like the look of the v70 better! I've been checking for a while now and just checking out options. I think like most guys when we shop for cars, we change our minds at least a million times. Lol.

V70 t5 awd seems to be the route I will take :)

The only thing that should concern you is if the rear driveshaft and diff go. This is common on AWD Volvo's I've changed enough of them. Besides that very reliable cars.

BTW: 6500$ for a V70R (Which is single turbo) might sound good but repairs could get expensive quick...

Gate toi.

no, not necessarily, but if you want to bring a car for inspection, PM ill give you the infos and address of the garage, and you can drop by, we will inspect it.

Volvo is nicer to drive and much more luxurious. V70R are nice car to drive, but i'd rather compare de Forester to the XC70 ...
The ride is much more quiet with a Volvo than a Subaru. The Forester is a very reliable car and is a perfect winter car.
All in all it is what do you want the most
"Reliabiliy and Winter habilities" or "european Luxury and comfort" ?

I own a Saab, i know a Accord is more reliable but you don't have that much comfort. Si what is most important for you...
