I went for what (seemingly) would have been a simple drive to Old Montreal to take a few pictures tonight (I say seemingly because, fuck, the 720 is closed), and I have honestly never, EVER witnessed such shitty roads in Montreal. I've been driving since 2007 and have yet to experience such utter and complete lack of consideration on the part of the city in regards to its motorists.
Since when is it acceptable to have entrance and exit ramps where cars are doing 60-70 completely composed of uneven patches?
Why are all the roads full of giant uneven dips and huge cracks? When you get air doing 40 over a sudden dip something is horribly wrong.
Why are there 2' + craters everywhere?
Why do the highways have giant "speedbumps" on them?
Why are there squares of road missing everywhere filled with rocks, in the middle of busy avenues?
I know, I know, everybody already knows about the roads and how bad they are, but seriously, this is pathetic. My car is lowered (not slammed) and I honestly do not think I will be taking it anywhere but out of the city anymore. I love driving more than anything else, but it's become a nerve wracking and disgusting experience in Montreal.
I wish we as citizens (and motorists) could do something about this shit. It's completely ludicrous that with all the money we as the general public fork over to the government that they cannot at least try and fix the roads properly. When Japan was destroyed by the earthquake years back they had their highways back to like new in a matter of days.
