Found a pretty good deal, just wanna know if the daily showers are long or short, really don't mind if it rains like 2 hours a day.

Is it enough to ruin a vacation?

It's actually VERY hot right now - I'm leaving for Mexico in a week.

The showers, assuming a hurricane/tropical storm doesn't come through, are light and typically last 10-20 minutes.

Caribbean = very hot in summer.

For weather its hit or miss, unless you book last minute. Usually (but not always ...) rain will be intense but short lived.
Its currently rainy season and also hurricane season (June 1st to Nov 30) Peak hurricane season is +- Mid-September.
If you book last minute and want to see if there is a potential hurricane, check this site and also read the blog post by Dr. Masters.

Planning on leaving next Monday. Lol

Also, debating between 2 hotels with really good reviews,

Either Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa or Grand Bahia Principe el Portillo...
Anyone ever been to either?

Mon frère revient de la. (revenue dimanche )

thinking of either Dominican or Jamaica!! im finding tickets to Jamaica around end of September to be cheaper than DR? Is that expected?

I came back from jamaica friday, it was awsome! Short rain that last 30 mins.
