Hey guys, I've been studying Industrial Design for the last 3 years and figured because my thesis project has wheels I'd show you guys. I started this project almost a year ago when I got the brief in July of 2014 and started researching. Concept development was September to December 2014, and Technical Development and 3D CAD January to May 2015. I've put my heart and soul into this project, about 500 hours as a rough estimate.
The concept is a lightweight camping trailer designed for the urban professional. A couple that live in the city in a condo, doesn't have a big car for towing nor much storage space. I designed it to be as lightweight and compact as possible, while providing all the amenities you'd find on a much larger camper. The trailer was designed with sustainability in mind, using recyclable materials and assembled in a fashion so it can be dis-assembled for recycling at the end of its life cycle.
In terms of aesthetics, I took inspiration from 1930s American streamline design, the Bugatti Type-57SC Atlantic was a big inspiration of mine with the swooping fender lines. Here's my presentation, I'd love criticism / feedback / questions! Thanks for checking it out
