The picture of gaping chasms in a Japanese highway demonstrated the power of the March 11 earthquake.

Now the astonishing speed of reconstruction is being used to highlight the nation’s ability to get back on its feet.

Work began on March 17 and six days later the cratered section of the Great Kanto Highway in Naka was as good as new. It was ready to re-open to traffic last night

Thats easy...They just inverted the "before" and "after" pictures :D

Look at the "after" picture, on the right, the house is perfectly built in place all good looking etc...Hmmm...Weird?

We live in a shit place guys!!!! How can those peepol who have 1 earthquake par month can have a place that look so good and clean and here we live in a place that nothing ever happens and everything is scrap ...

the strength of a road has little to do with the thickness of the asphalt layer.what is important is the quality of the road foundation (gray and brown layers beneath the asphalt). For example, I believe t was on st-johns in the west island that had over 3 feet thick of asphalt and was riddled with cracks and potholes. Also for your information, on the 10 there is 55mm base layer + 65mm wear layer, therefore a little less than 5 inches total.

you guys are pathetic

LARGEST DEBT nation in the world
Japan 225.80% of GDP
Canada 34%

We all live with debt it's just a matter of how to manage it. You ever heard people complaining about how the Japanese are poor? no.
Do you hear them lamenting that they are not getting help? no, they actually refused help.
I'm not sure about that road in the picture but reconstructing that in a week but that is something.
We really should learn and stop bullsh*ting about the syndicates and this and that. When sh*t hits the fan we gotta get our hands dirty and get that sh*t done.
If that earthquake happened here, we wouldn't have a highway till 2020.
