90-93 Celica Information

Just wondering where i could find some sites that are specific to just the 90-93 celica?

I'm just looking for information on them, as in specs/features etc.

Also to those who have owned or own one, how reliable is this car? Is it good on gas? Are parts expensive? How modable is this car? And any other info you can offer would be great.

There are quite few sites you can search. My fave is www.celica.net and go for the 5th Gen celicas.

I own one.. reliable.. more than my previous Golf @ half the milage as my celicas has. These are some great cars, they are 15years old so don't expect her to act like a new car. Good on gas? Depends on your driving and how well maintained the car was. I get 450-500km per tank or 25mpg on summer 19mpg on winter. that's 50/50 city/hwy Some people do 600km per tank on their GT-S. Parts are rare to find, but some dealers have fair prices. Modable, well.. don't know about that.. I'm not there yet, the car stock is fun to drive right away.

Are you planning to buy one?

Yes. though i'm looking at my options for now. So it's not for sure. Depending on your above answer i may not purchase one.

part are not hard to find, the dealer, Car quest or auto part have them all
never had problem finding part, but if you want to modify it now thats something
else. Almost no part for the 5sfe engine so no big mods for it.

But like CelicaGT-S said its a cool car more reliable then my golf too hehe
and you dont see it at every corner street :bigup:

Non pas du tout :( Mais c'est une Celica avec un kit shogun et un hood GT-4, swappé 3S-GTE

That's Clayton Woodard's car, former webmast of celica.net. We sponsored him way back in the day. Probably one of the most well known 5th gen's on the net but not everyone's cup of tea.

Yeah thats why i kinda like it. rare car to find. Even to purchase. Found one that looked decent but was like 3hrs away... hehehe

Also what about engine swaps? Are there any mods for an engine you might be able to swap? How hard would it be to find a swap?

you can had a turbo to the 5sfe engine
Standstorm is running with this setup and likes it

or 3sgte easy swap for the Gt-s model cause the transmission
is bolt on with that engine, dont know about the gt,
can somebody help me with that?!?

but seriously go for it, its a really good car to drive and its a toyota
so really reliable

Wooo inspiring me! hehehe

Oh forgot to ask... since this is pretty much a sports car. what about winter? any problems there? does the body rust out fast?
 
i cant say cause its a 92 so, mine have some on the rockerPanel but thats it.
its a low car dont forget, so some time its hard to drive on big snow, you can feel
the snow rub the floor but its not a big deal.

i never had probleme to star my car last winter, even if my battery was almost dead
(had to change it after winter lol)

no electrical problem too, since i have my car i just had to change the water pump
and the power steering pump thats it, the engine have 175000km and still run great
its not that much for a toyota
 
I know i'm asking alot of questions but....

what kind of safty features do these cars have.

Disc Brakes/Air bag... whatever else...

OhOhOh forgot to add...

What kind of power options (pwr windows/mirrors etc) are standard? or should i say common.
 
you can expect everything from a gt-s hehe
power windows, cruise control, AC, power door, elec mirror too,
sunroof, and thats the coolest part i like on thats car,
you can change your seat position(driver only) to fit your back

the brakes are awsome they can almost stop on a dime lol
 
If your are kucky enough ou could get the "systems 10" sound systems... 10 speaker, cd, tape, ..... 8" speaker in doors panel ! That what i have, and the stock sound systems id really great...
