Street racer ran my friend over...

I was just informed that a girl I work with at Lakeshore General Hospital who lives in St. Lazare was out walking her dog last night IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE when 2 cars started racing. She was run over, her dog died.

Her neighbour, a doctor, accompanied her in the ambulance to LGH, where she was stabilized, and then sent to The Montreal General Hospital, where she is now in the ICU...

I am told that one of the drivers returned, but as for the details I can't confirm.

She has a fractured skull, several broken ribs, blood in her lungs, along with a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). They don't know as yet if they will be able to save one of her eyes...

2006-12-01 UPDATE: Today I found out the CT scan showed that ALL of her right side ribs are fractured, and her scapula (shoulder blade) is shattered. She was back in surgery today so they could remove part of her skull because here brain is expanding...she is NOT in good condition. :dunno:

2006-12-02 UPDATE: Apparently she has lost the use of one eye for sure. The only reason they are trying any type of surgical procedure is because of her young age. If she was older, they would have let her go.

2006-12-03 UPDATE: The reason her head took such an impact is she saw the cars coming, and she bent over to move/protect her dog when she was hit...She is really not in good condition :(

2006-12-06 UPDATE: She coded on Saturday, meaning her heart stopped. They revived her, but things really aren't looking to bright. *td*

Its a real shame and I guess i see why Harper made the law a prisonable offense.

That really sucks... reason why I dont speed and slow down to 20km/h even when passing somebody on a street with no sidewalk .... Hope she gets better :(
 
That is absolutely horrible. People love to drive fast in residential streets.

Last night i was almost ran over walking my dog as well when an explorer took a very wide turn on my street and foced me to jump on the grass yanking my dog!

I hope your friend will be ok and the Racer get the death penalty.
 
Pretty stupid behavior racing in a residential sector.I may not know you or your friend but still I hope that shell heal fast.

this is very sad...... i hate to read and see thing like that. if you race, DO NOT RACE ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS, at least.

I heard about it today from my friend and my parents. We live in the area and there are always ****tards who blast through saddlebrook like idiots.

Apperantly what happened is the car B went out to pass car A who was in front. Then car B hit the woman. The fact that the roads arent lit doesnt help

I hope they ****ing through the book at that pot head who hit it! People should learn that in a residental area you should drive at a crawl.. If you want to drive like a maniac I know 10 places out here where you can do so, perhaps the only damage youll cause is to yourself

What part of town was this & what were the cars driving? These guys deserve some seriouse MR Punishment!!

As for street racers, they're all idiots with I'm schumacher attitude with poor driving skills. They should have harsher penalties for street racing.
