Been awhile since i posted here... Got myself a new car, and figured i'd share it with Montréal Racing...

so here goes, a beetle 1957, with a whoopy 1200cc worth 36 hp. Picked up in Florida, and expecting to be on the road by Granby exposition next weekend.

Beautiful! Congrats on the purchase! One of my dreams!
I just moved to Vancouver, and there are TONS of aircooled's here.

Wow man, really a nice ride you got there. '57 the best years, timeless classic!
Finally an aircooled owner on MR, i can say you are unique my friend

Congrats on your purchase!

Wow, congrats. Beautiful! I'm really starting to fall in love with the aircooleds. There's just something about them!

Wow!!

Dire que ce petit bébé est né grâce aux idées d'Hitler et à l'ingénierie de Ferdinand Porsche! Félicitations!

Oh man, i'm totally in love with your split, one of my dream cars since 20years, someday i'll restore one  We want more pics of your split, and your beetle :)
And, thanks for sharing with us!

turn it into a ratstyle!!

hell no, the car is freaking clean, why make it rust more on purpose, when a project starts as a rusty car, it's acceptable to make it a rat, but a clean '57, that would be plain stupid. :dunno:

well maybe you're right :D it's true that the car is mint!

lowar!!! and load that roof rack :D

Nice bug man, buying cars from down south is the way to go! My father lives in florida and each time I'm down here I check out cars to possibly bring up to our province. My brother actually just bought a 1973 maxda rx2 and its going to get shipped up real soon. It's great to see people with real dubs on the forum and we need more people like you to keep the vintage dub scene alive up here in Quebec.

Oh and your old splitty looked great!

its a clean bug, but not that clean. There's some rust forming here and there, but the outside is clean.

my split was another story. Frame was not in the best shape, heating tube was welded shut, it basically needed an overhaul. But we did use it on our honeymoon trip in 2006, taking us to PEI and back without a single problem except a loose nut.

Wicked gotta love the air cooleds. I remember poking around in a family friends field and finding an older bug stuck in between sometrees. I always wanted a bus with a 3.6l for traveling.:p

Can I ask how much a beetle in that condition goes for?
for 10-12k, you get an oval rust free hard top, most of the time not in OG paint.

if you dont care about model, you can get a ragtop but later model (58-67) for roughly 10k

tomorrow i'm picking it up at the Garage and trying for the Inspection. Everything now work, but i have one badly worn tire, and no spare.

freaking 135r15 are a bitch to find around here... 90$ a piece, 50$ shipping.

So tomorrow night, i might have a car for Granby's exposition this weekend.

Thats a big price tag, but it is worth it for such a classic. Congrats again!
