If by chance we thought about the Chevrolet Aveo at all during the past several years, it was usually because of its unfortunate styling and cheap feel. Starting with next week's 2010 Detroit Auto Show, Chevy is out to change the Aveo's image into a product that we might actually desire. The process begins with the Aveo RS concept, which provides a preview of what to expect from the next-generation production Aveo when it arrives in showrooms sometime next year.

Commentary: I think GM is finally getting the message and is coming out with better designs. On a slightly different note, I highly doubt the real Aveo will look like this. Why the heck to automakers always come out with fancy good looking concepts, only to dumb them down for the masses when the vehicle enters production? If the concept looks better then build the damn concept as is.

Looking better than the Mazda 2 and better than most of the new little car out there. But I dont like American car. Japan or go home.

nice period!

Wonder why they are spending time on the Aveo though, its supposed to be replaced by the Spark real soon......

20 000 kms later the ball joints will be shot, shocks leaking, interior falling apart etc just like the current Aveo. These cars just don't have anything quality about them, 1 year later they feel 10 years old. A 10 year old Mk4 feels better.

here we go with the hate ......(knew you'd be around sooner than later)

and what proof do you have.....

First off if the car only had 20000km, it's still under guaranty so you won't be getting them ;)

We've sold a fair amount at the dealer here, I've never seen any claims for ball joints or leaking shocks on aveos/waves with the millage you mention. Remember this is a 10,000 car....you get what you pay for in this catagory, it's not better or worse than you average Hyundai or Kia. The only negative thing I can think of is the relative higher cost of maintenance compared to most cars in this catagory....possibly because it's really a Daewoo, and not a real GM. They have traditional plugs, and coolant that needs to be replaced every two years, and the belts (accessory and timming) tend to crack easily needing replacements at regular intervals The cars real downfall is the fact that with it's low entry level price, the typical domestic car buyer doesn't give a crap about maintaining the thing .....if only they would follow the manufacturers suggestions , they would have better running vehicles!

It's not hate.. it's common knowledge

Lets see my experiences.

My sisters BF had an 2007 Aveo on lease take over from his mom. The bolts retaining the balljoints to the table came loose I don't know how many times. I had to tighten them 3 times. Timing belt broke at 19 000km's and parts took ages to get, over 30 days. At 30 000 they had to change the tables, ball joints and front shocks.

The interior kept rattling, the seats wore out and the lettering wore off the buttons.

Ex GF 06 had an Aveo, same shit. Customers cars, same shit.

Sorry to burst your bubble Ron but these cars are shit. Don't use the argument that they are cheap because I had my Accent for 3 years and the only issue I had was a radio that stopped working. Hyundai's that my customers drive are very reliable and they still feel decent after a few years. Secondly don't use the warranty as an excuse because customers hate having to visit the dealer on a constant basis for known issues only for service advisers to make up lame excuses. Do you think that Mr. Joe Blow that keeps having to visit the dealer with his Aveo is going to buy another? Nope, he will visit Toyota and buy a Yaris.

Look im aware that GM does make some good products. Trucks, some cars and the Corvette. However GM has never ever made a good compact car and never will.

Now you can make fun of what I drive. Sure it might catch on fire, have check engine lights, costs a lot to fix but hey it stills feels fanfreaking tastic! The interior is great, fit and finish is spot on.

The headlights look like the new Accord.. but that interior looks way too nice for a cheap compact.

tres vrai que pour le prix un accent est de loin supérieure a une wave/aveo/swift+

I also don't see TSBs issue on the Accent for critical suspension components coming loose, then having to be tightened constantly.

The reason why Hyundai can build a quality product is because they control every aspect of manufacturing. The steel comes from Hyundai steel , the robots are built by Hyundai.. hell even the ships that bring the cars over are from Hyundai. Not only do you control costs this way but you have proper quality control. You don't need to have multiple 3 party suppliers that increase the risks of something going wrong.

The Aveo is a perfect car to drive for 3-4 years then send it off to the scrap yard.

GM did make one good compact... it was the old Geo Metro/Swift. Practically indestructible. O

Le seul probleme c'est que c'est char la proviennent de Suzuki...c'est des Swift re-badgé LOL
Faque y'a fuck all de GM la dedans!

That's why it worked because it was designed by the Japanese ;) btw: The Swifts were built in Japan while the GM branded models were built by CAMI in Ontario

Oner, les vielles Suzuki Swift et Gm Metro etaient des produits purement Suzuki.

Le DERNIER modele de SWIFT soit la SWIFT+ AVEO et WAVE sont des produits DAEWOO, melange pas le passe avec le present.
