hey I am looking for a big-ass tool box.. used is fine.. any recommendations?

looked on kijij, etc.. don't know what is good or bad

I am a total amateur.. it is to store my tools for everything (house, cars, etc).

My skills range from washing a car to changing break pads (brembo only thank you)

that gives you an idea!!

si ta largent en main au moins d'aout je pourrais utilisé mon rabais etudiant chez un détaillant snap on que mon ecole fait affaire avec

While the "Pro" models are very nice, you don't need that at home...

I have 2 tool boxes from Canadian Tire (excellent prices when on special, check the flyers!) and I'm very satisfied with them. You're not rolling it around a shop all day long and opening the drawers 50 times a day, every day...

A friend of mine has a huge Craftman tool box from Sears, those are also very nice.

There are no bad tool boxes, just many bad applications... ;)

Sears has a thicker gauge metal compared to canadian tire. Both have roller bearings and so on.
When I did my mechanics class back in 2004, several guys wanted to buy a box so we made it a class project. Comparing Craftsman, Mastercraft, Snapon and a few others of the same level, Craftsman was the best value.

I have a craftsman pro tool box and regret buying it its been 3 years and 4 of the ball bearing slides have already failed and there is loose in all the slides. The craftsman pro boxes only come with a 1 year warranty. Invest in a good quality box and you will never have to replace it.

The guy who's Craftsman failed is a professional mechanic. You are not.

This was actually before I opend my shop and was using my box at home it failed even before the warranty was over..

I also forgot to menthion the lock system could be better along with the casters, I cannot physicaly move my box by myself when its fully loaded due to teh shit quality of the casters.

For the same price I payed for the craftsman I could have gotten a used snap on bottom chest with the same amount of room as the 2 piece craftsman box

Here is a a picture when I first got my Craftsman pro box

international make craftman toolboxes and now you can buy 24 inch deep drawers toolbox
.. if you want to show of your garage, buy a 8000$ snap-on tool box.. at my job a guy has a mactool macsimiser with riser.. man that thing is huge.. too big

I have a mastercraft 36" wide top on a desk, and a mastercraft maximum bottom section, they're pretty good, btu the bottom section is kinda stupid, teh large drawer doesn't ahve anything to hold it closed, so once you get some heavy shit in tehre and its not locked it'll jsut slide open, it's really quite retarded.

Very happy with my top section so far though

What about Ultrapro? Napa's home brand. My first tool box, got it for 900$. 42'' long. I use it everyday and it does the job. The drawers do feel cheaper than my coworker's mac but it was also a few thousands dollars cheaper.
