Keith Cowie just broke the motor in his GT-R . His car has gone as quick as 9.95@153 in the UK.

Funny thing about this is how it broke. It broke #2 rod.

Anyone following Nicks car will know that it also broke #2 rod.

Now we are done comparing cranks .

The interesting thing is how these broke . Nicks car had stock oil sump , N1 oil pump , N1 oil restrictor in the N1 block, and broke out on the road course. Keiths car had Trust oil pump , Trust Sump , Tomei oil restrictor , was at 9500 rpm in 3rd gear when it let go on a drag strip.

We are trying to prevent this from happening again. We dont need another $15,000 motor scattered on the road course.

Me being lazy:
What exactly caused the #2 rod to break?
Me reading the threads:
Probably Oil starvation.

Thanks for the very interesting reads.

i think hes trying to say that it is important to know all the little details about your high performance motor, so that you can avoid disaster.

p.s Robin, can i plz plz plz get a ride in your car when its ready?

Possibly cuz of Dry sump oil setup?

No...it's only when they are using a upgraded oil pump....and they do track or drag racing....

With all the G force pushing the oil at the back of the engine....and the pump that bring sooo much oil to the head...there is not enough oil left in the oil pan (were the oil pickup is) so the idea of external oil return is perfect, they connect this external line back to the oil return line of the front turbo, which is very close the to oil pump pickup. Then they have enough oil in the oil pan...and this shouldn't happen anymore.

Keep in mind that these engine were pushing 800 HP +

Bellow 650HP...there is nothing to worry on the RB26DETT (I will be OK for this summer)

Robin, i love your wording

"i will be OK for this summer"

are you hinting that next summer you plan to be running more power than pete?

I would love too...but I don't have enough $$$ for that...

My car should have only 500HP (Crank) for this summer...I don't have enough $ to upgrade the turbo(2) this year :(

geeze, whats wrong with you, you'll only have 500hp
blah

just kidding,
you're lucky to have enough money to afford the engine in the first place!!
i cant wait to hear those turbos, i have no doubt your car is going to be hella fast.

p.s. because im broke, and still paying for my car, im up for sr20det donations, so if anyone has a pesky sr20det lying around give it to me :D

yo almazi, ill make a deal with you, ill take the RB, and with it all the problems of high horsepower, and ill give you my MINT Micra engine, its in perfect conndition, this way, you wont have any reliability problems. sweet deal eh!

were those RBs running a JWT ecu?????!!!!!!!!   *owned*

It's true...I didn't think about your Micra engine...wow, that would be original, Micra engine in a Silvia...with the 3 speed Auto trany fitted on the Silvia!

For some reason...I will keep my RB26 ;)
