Porsche Wants To Sell Cars At Dix30, Annoying Other Dealers

Porsche Canada would like a “city showroom” at Complexe Dix30 in Brossard which would be the first of its kind for the German brand.

Brossard is currently in the process of changing zoning laws to allow for such sales at the mall after receiving input from thirteen residents who showed up for an October 7 consultation meeting.

Dix30 is only entertaining the Porsche boutique at the moment, according to mall spokesperson Olivier Gagnon. We are talking about a 1900 square-foot space with a display of two vehicles.  This follows similar showrooms operated by Tesla in various North American cities however the Dix30 boutique would be operated by Porsche dealer Groupe Lauzon.

Montreal Automobile Dealers Corporation executive vice-president Denis Dessureault says he understands the concerns of the approximately thirty nearby dealers who are trying to block the zoning change. Dealers invest millions in their showrooms and if they wish to compete with Porsche they’d have to spend more to open boutiques in the mall.

“The way consumers shop for vehicles continues to evolve,” John Cappella, network development director for Porsche Cars Canada says. “Convenience and brand experience are becoming more and more important,” he said, also mentioning that the showroom “will bring the Porsche brand into the heart of one of Canada’s premier shopping and entertainment districts.”
