This Is the SAAQ’s Secret List Of High-End Vehicles

Earlier this month, MontrealRacing.com reported that certain vehicles between 10 and 25 years old necessitate an evaluation for the purposes of calculating TVQ on a purchase. The SAAQ was unable to confirm which vehicles appeared on the list but they did confirm its existence.

MontrealRacing.com has been able to obtain a copy of the list which is an internal document (not public). MontrealRacing.com member Vincent Grandmaitre who lives in the Gatineau area was able to photograph the list allegedly used by the SAAQ while conducting a transaction. We’ve verified his story and believe this to be and authentic document despite seeming rather rudimentary without any official letterhead.

Some questions immediately come to mind after reading this list, notably the absence of the BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lincoln, Volvo, and a few other luxury brands. The other odd thing about the list is that it’s a mix of specific models and brand names. For example, the 1996 Acura NSX-T needs to be evaluated but what about the 1995 NSX or any other Acura models?

It’s another bizarre twist to the story from a few weeks ago. We reached out to both Revenu Quebec and the SAAQ for comment.
