Urgent ECu related question

OK i have my ecu (silver box) in my hands to see take the chip off do i need to open the silver box
 
Yes...but make sure that you have no static electricity on you because that's not good for a chip!

What are you trying to do?
 
Sometimes there is some colored sealent put on the screws that seal the ecu. If the sealent is broken then yer ECU has been opened before.

Like vrsik said watch out for static. Itll fry an ecu! Also, Im not too sure about mkIV ecus, but if installing the new chip requires soldering, I wouldnt recommend doing it yerself unless yer good with the soldering gun.

its factory installed .
It was my brothers car i took and trade mine to my father :) good deal no ?
 
A 95 gti vr6 is worth about 12000$..and your mk4 was worth quite a bit more! Did you get $$$ back?
 
There are 12 possible ECU #'s for the 93-95 VR6's and 8 of them are soldered so be careful!
What chip are you using?
 
Finally i didnt touch nothing KACEY got me scared !!!
Thanks joey ! But no more 4dr :( its back to 2 now but with much more HP :)
