swap or NOS???

I was considering 2 options to do to my
car. doing an sr20det swap or running
a nitrous express system with a 50shot wet
system. your thought???

And why is it annoying ?

There are much more people there than here, with knowledge about Nissans.

About your subject though, those are 2 VERY different things.

One will cost 1000$ MAX. the other can go from 3000$ to 6000$ easily.

Do you want a turbo or do you want NOS.

What kind of power you want ? always there, reliable. Or once in a blue moon shot ?

Do you want to be fast even in curves or only in a staight line ?

So many things to consider, between these 2 options.
 
I think the 240sx has enough juice for everyday
shit, i'd just add the basic bolt-ons.
I would most likely use the NOS for a smart ass
getaway.

ex. (driving at 100k/h next to a rice-a-roni tegra, smile at the driver and press the nos
and smoke his candy ass)

that is the sole purpose of my car.
 
My concern is that the engine I will have
would be battered and bruised to hell and
will blow-up a month after I buy the car.
I would ideally like to get it re-built
with a nice port and polish intake and
better cams and gears and rods and forged
pistons to take like 100 shot.

How much do you thik that would cost???
 
This would cost 5 to 6 K easily.....

So either you drive the car like that + install a NOS kit ...drive it until it blow

Or you put 5 to 6 K in the car for piston rod.....and then it will last longer

Or you put 8 to 9 K in a clean SR20DET swap and you don't need to refill NOS to pass anyone....you have power all the time!

Really I would say, don't spend 5 K just to run NOS safe... Run 50 HP of NOS and it will be realibale if you don't abuse it
 
if you're going to pay 5k for a Nos setup thats just a waste , why?? to get a bullet proof Nos engine , plz , go with the swap , like s14 said , power all morning all afternoon all day ! start saving up if you want quality , dont take the easy way out for speed !

How about I take it a Notch higher...

I saw this in a magazine and started checking
on this. How about swapping in a rb26dett
complete with tranny and ecu. I found
one locally so... It has been done before
so it is possible and i know a few speed shop mecanics that will work for cheap especially
in a "never been done around here" situation.

And since all you guys seem concerned with
the sr200det. I'll come out of nowhere
and surprize the shit out of everyone.

how do you like them apples????
 
Its SR20DET, Im sure you just made a typo though.

Who is concerned about the DET swap ... only about price and
a rb26dett swap will probably cost you TWICE as much.

BTW, rb26dett in a 240sx localy ?!?!?! WHERE ? I want to know !!!

BTW, what is your budget ? You have to establish that first, then consider your options. Cause from NOS to RB26DETT, thats like 1000$ to 15 000$ and more.

here's another part of this thread that I liked....

Just for your info... nitrous isn't recommended to be used at highway speeds. This is how things melt, nitrous is supposed to be used for acceleration, not for highway speed runs! If your going to get either of the two done, I would really suggest you start doing some research, cause it doesn't seem like you know what your getting yourself into! It's goingto cost you ALOT more in the long run if you don't know what your doing!
 
my budget is whatever I want it to be.
this is a long term project. Since an
RB26dett is rather expensive I will save it
for last. When the "show" on my car is
to my satisfaction I will swap in to
"go" motor. I found a complete kit
tranny & ecu included for 6k cdn$ and
no i'm not telling where otherwise I won't
be the only one out there.

I will give this other piece of info.
the motor will bolt on to a 300zx engine
bay with the stock 300zx mounts.

I did do alot of research, that little
story from before is just a pipedream.
basically my job is embarrasing the shit
outn of every fking type-r I can find
