I was told to put this here... maybe I can get some help... it was in Off Topic.
This is a story that happen to my friend and he was, at the end, a victim of abuse of power I guess.
His ex-boss was speeding with a stolen car (borrowed a car from a friend, but that friend didn't know...). Cops caught him and asked for his papers. He said he didn't have them.
Then he proceeded on saying he was JP (my friend) and give his birth date and address. He had memorized it by looking at my friend's papers in his wallet.
Apparently, that's good enough! The cops bought it. Give him 3 tickets. 1 for speeding, 1 for not having his license and 1 for not having his registration.
Soon after, the ex-boss was caught for passing a stop. Said the same story and it worked. So 3 more points.
My friend had no clue of this happening, until he got the over-due payment for the tickets in the mail.
He would loose his license (16 poitns). So he got a lawyer right away for the stop ticket and after 800$, he was not-guilty. But now he had to deal with the other tickets. He contested them all of course.
He recently went to court for them. And lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The stupid cop said that the minute she walked in, she knew it was him. It was something that happened 1 year ago and she still remembered my friends face. The infraction happened around midnight. It was dark!!! And the back up cop that was in the car (30 meters away) said she was sure it was him. Even though she admitted it was dark and probably had a hard time seeing his face.
He was declared guilty. He's stuck with paying the tickets and the demerit points. For something he absolutely didn't do and because of stupid cops who don't do their work right. Then they wonder why we have so much hate towards them. When they should do more investigation they don't and for small things they will. The ex-boss didn't have papers and the registration wasn't under his name!!! Come on, can it be more obvious than that. Stolen!!!
2 weeks after the court, that same cops caught that ex-boss again. He pulled the same story. But now she knew my friend... It was only 2 weeks ago that she had seen him.
My friend got info about what had happen and contacted the cop and told her: You see it wasn't me the other time either!
Cop: Non, non, l'autre fois c'etait toi. J'en suis sur!
Can you believe this crap! When he told me the results of his appearence in court, I freaked out.
They're here to serve and protect... When I hear these stories I question that, a lot!
