I'm in a very big dilhemma right now:

I have to choose between building up my sohc 1.8L engine or swap a ca18det in the car:

The swap would cost me around 5k...I could put that money into porting my head, head studs, copper head gasket, t3 turbo, and forged pistons...The engine would be stronger than a stock ca18det but I dont want to reach the limit of the engine and loose all reliability...the ca18det is know to be a 300-500hp capable engine...free and high reving...
 
The only way you loose reliability is when you build it half fast.

Reliability means buying superior quality parts and getting the electical and fuel needed to safely run your engine at 100% all the time.

Porting doesn't affect reliability one bit (when done right that is);)
