Hello people! Soon enough i'll be getting some subs and i'm just curious to know what your preferences are in terms of size. I'm mostly interested in SQ but i want some loudness too.

I'm thinking 2 12's or maybe 3 10's. (JL Audio most probably)

What do you think?

the 12's

I would go for the 2 12's. I like the tight sounding bass from a 10, but for overall sound quality, I would go for 2 12's

i have 2 12's JL audio....and i gotta tell you.....ITs LOUD.......the seats shake, and i mean......they SHAKE!!!

I'd say 2 10s is enough. Find yourself 2 Infinity Perfect's, they'll be enough. As long as you have at least about 600-800W going through them. They're rated to handle 350W RMS each, but they are quite expensive. However they are some of the best on the market. Thats just my 2 cents.

yep, I'd go with the 10s also. I had 2 12 inch JLs also, and I found that it was too much. I would have prefered to spend the same amount, but on really high quality 10s.

Hmmmmm... mixed opinions here. I think i'm gonna opt for the 12's since the music i listen to has really low frequencies and 12's are better suited for this.

If I were you, I'd re-consider that. The Infinity Perfects go just as low as any 12. Freq. Responce on the infinitys is 18-150Hz. But if your looking for an ALL out top notch SQ/power sub, (that is if you have the money) I suggest the Eclipse 88100Ti. It retails for about 600+, and it plays real well in a small sealed enclosure. It can handle up to 750W RMS each, and 1500 peak. Great sub, but a tad on the high price side, but for good SQ with that extra boom, I'd recommend it. Oh and by the way, SQ systems don't usually need big subs, you'll need a good set of components up front, and feed them about 150W each, and as for the sub, I'd say 2 10s or a single 12. Otherwise it's just overkill in an SQ setup. Personally, my 2 10s are going in this weekend probably, my box is already, I just got to wire in the subs, and screw them in. I went with a sealed enclosure, and subs are rated at 250W rms each. I'm going to have to be careful that I don't blow them cause the amp only puts out 300W, so if I crank it, it'll start to clip, but I don't mind, I'm going to buy a new amp later on anyways.

2 x 10 all the way... but wait what kind of music do you listen to.

hehe too expensive? Which one... the Infinity or the Eclipse. I know the Exclipse is WAAAY too expensive, I just wanted to see what you'd say. The infinity is a decent price for the performance. And I was talking to an installer while I was being fitted for my box and he said that 2x10 is enough. He says he's put 4x10 in the same car that I have and said it was too much. For the size of the car I have, he said even with 2 10s you'll have enough bass.

I had 4 10's.. they hit supper hard,, 140db however the bass dosent travel like 12's,, the 10's are not half as dept as 12's

if you like rap go 12's
if you like danse, fast.. go 10's

I am now switching to 1 or 2 , 12 inch Alpine type R's

if you wanna see my old set up

I listen to all kinds of electronic music but some rap also. I want a tight sound. I'm thinking 10's might be the way to go after all.

I've seen both your setups ATgrills and NOSbimmer. I am impressed! I just checked out the 10" Infinity Perfect and it costs 399$! Thats quite a bit for one sub. Are JL's cheaper in price?

Depend which JLs you get. Last time I checked, they range from W0 to W8. W8s being the best and most expensive.
