reasons for running rich? (sr20 inside)

i have a quick question, although it is a little broad, i was hoping for some feedback

i have a 180sx redtop in a 1996 240, and it is running what seems like very rich

you can see the build up on the rear bumper

what are the possible reasons for running rich?
relative mods:
intake cone
3" catback
walbro 255lph fuel pump
nismo fuel pressure regulator
 
Maybe you need a little tuning in your ecu, I don't know if you can put a safc-2 on a sr20, but I think that most people with qr25 use it to regulate the A/F ratio...

also, isn't the 180sx a ca18de ? for an sr20 you'de need a 200sx no? if not then I don't understand why it's called a 180 if it's a 2.0L ....
 
it is an sr20det

in japan the 180sx started with a ca18 but in 1991 it changed to the sr20 but kept its name as the 180sx
 
jai un redtop s13 aussi et je fais la meme chose.... g pas de cataliseur dapres moi c pour sa je c pas si ten a un mais si ten a pas c normal je croit

anyway t pas le seul ke son SR fais sa! si c un trouble jaimerais bien le savoir par contre...
 
Quand tu shift (voir lacher le gaz brusquement) ya un exces d'essence qui sort du moteur pis qui "ignite" dans le systeme d'echapement, c'est pour sa que ya du bruler sur le bumper, le backfire c'est la meme chose, sauf plus accentuer.

le redtop dans ta 240sx ou dans ton 510 ? :rolleyes:
