Alright I'm having problems with my Isuzu Rodeo, I can't get my 4x4 to work. When I'm stuck and I put the drive stick in 4H OR 4L I don't see any difference from 2wd, my front wheels will not "turn" but the 4x4 "on" light does light up in the dash board. I am somewhat confused since this is my first 4x4 Truck I'm not sure how I can go at trouble shooting. I am guessing the 4x4 system is all mechanical so nothing electronic to check right?
I do think my 4X4 system does work when I'm driving... When I first took out the truck early winter I went and tried it out in an empty parking lot.. the handling of the truck was much different in 2wd then 4wd. Could it be that the 4wd only works at higher speeds? (Although I know its supposed to work all the time)
I know the truck has, from what I heard, automatic locking front hubs, could these be defective causing the 4wd system to spin as if it was on neutral up front?
My next idea is to check if the front drive shaft will turn when the 4wd is activated.. now if this turns it should tell me that transfercase is fine .. in turn if the driveshaft turns the front diff should also turn causings the axels to turn.. leading to the automatic hubs not locking?
Any information can be greatly appreciated, I bought the truck in order not to get stuck this winter... so far I'm getting stuck more then ever and it's really frustrating.
Thanks for your time
