I came across a intresting fact while reading up on bmw

the 325 e36 as 189hp and 181 torque
the 328 as 190 hp 207 torque

a 328 swap is more expensive but why bother for 1 hp
well there is the 20 torque

well, the E36 326 is from 1992 to 1995 while the 328 is from 1996 until the E46 got out....they're more recent(that's why they're more $$$)
and the peak torque on a 328 is achieved at a lower RPM then a 325

doesnt the 328 have VANOS? I always thought that was the main diff(apart from the bigger displacement). and didnt the first 323 have the old 325 engine when the 328 came out?? BMW guys give me the facts!!

Vanos i just starting to read up on it and im still confused

i dont know what years ure talking about
but here all the facts

1992-1995 e36 325: 2.5 litre 189hp 181 lb torque I dont think they had Vanos
1996-98:e36 328: 2.8 litre 190hp and 207 lb torque dual VANOS stepless variable valve timing

1998-1999 e36 323 (Usa only): 2.5 litre dual VANOS stepless variable valve timing #68hp 181 torque

1999-2000 e46 323 : 2.5 litre 170hp 181 torque double VANOS variable timing chaindriven dual-overhead camshafts

2000 e46 328 double VANOS variable timing chaindriven dual-overhead camshafts 2.7 litre 193hp 206 torque
