Actually i think the first major mainstream hit was Lumidee feat. Nas - Never leave you.
 
I dont remember exactly which became mainstream first,
but in my mind I remember hearing "get busy" first,
but it must have been through the album... then yeah Lumidee, Wayne Wonder, etc etc...

Either way, producers should have been over this riddim a looong time ago.
