I got a set of passat wheel that were in bad shape.

I decided to polish them. All done with my bare hand.

this is what i used.
Autosol was use to polish them.
The Extra fine was used for the one that were really in bad shape.
The super fine was use for lightly bad shape and to finish off the polishing on all wheel

the two on the pics are finish, just need to put more wheel wax.

they look better in real than pics. It was raining, so no sun, you dont see them shiny.
i cant make them shine more... too much work. My hand are tired

yeah i know, i was just trying to show what you can do with $20 using your bare hands.

i'm satified with it, and i'm not trying to have show quality. They are just passat rims. No big deal.

i can make them shine more if i spend more time and more effort.

nice, so tell us what exactly did you use to get that result

or is it just alot of hand polishing?

u need to wet sand those rims!!!

u half way ther hit it up with wet 600-800-1000-1200-1500-2000-2500

then bust out the rotary and hit up up with a soft waffle weave pad and yur favorite metal rubbing compound and voila!!!

i do this for a living along with car detaling and trust me il will take u no longer than an extra hour or so to make them show crome like the other guy posted(if ur moderatly skilled with yur hands)

im actually restoring sum trans am gta bbs style meshies!!! oh and sum advans too!

Wet sanding won't do anything if the clear is still on there...

Depending on how bad the clear is or how much oxidation there is, you have to start off with a coarser grit.
On those wheels (I did them like 3 years ago so don't remember exactly) I did:

120 (pad on drill)
240 (pad on drill)
400 (hand)
800 (hand)
1000 (hand, wet)
1500 (hand, wet)
2000 (hand, wet)
2500 (hand, wet)
Polishing paste (hand)

I could have saved a lot of time if I had done it with the right tools, but since I did it all (or almost) by hand it took more than 15hrs to do.

Here's another 2 sets I did (didn't do the center at that point so you see the difference)
