OK here is your answer :)

It comes from MAX POWER Feb2001, p.14

"Bimmer vs Beemer, ever wonder which is correct, Bimmer or Beemer? We asked a high-up BMW official and discovered the term Beemer was first used in association with motorcycles. Back when british bikes dominated the market and BSA was a well-known brand, riders reffered to them as Beezers-a way to say the letters BSA as a word. To battle that, BMW riders started to say Beemer as a way of turning BMW into a word. This was long before the popularity of BMW cars, so whenever the term Beemer was spoken, it generally reffered to the motorcycle. When BMW cars became popular, many people reffered to them as Beemers-how the word Bimmer came about is a little bit of a mystery. In theory one could apply Beemer to either cars or bikes since it is only a reference to the name BMW, but as Bimmer developed as a reference to the cars, calling a BMW motorcycle a Bimmer would probably be incorrect. We've come to the conclusion that Bimmer equals car and Beemer equals motorcycles- anything different, and it begins to get confusing"

Hope this answers your question
