Hi veryone :)

I'm about to buy a Honda Prelude SE 2001 with only
2000 km. kinda new !! .

My question to you guys is if this car is good for long
periode of time about 5 or 6 years i've heard that the
engine is not that good as it's sound and after 50,000k
it's start to burn some OIL. any information ?? about this.

And what about the engine tuning ?? it can handle it or it'll die quickly and start to have some problemin short
time after the tune ?

Thanks :)

there have been some cases of H22s burning oil, however most of these have been abused. I suggest you buy the car if you like it, then go see Honda for the extended warranty....only a couple of hundred bucks, and peace of mind while you own the car.

My thaughts exactly and if it starts burning oil, just get it repared under warranty. In any case, even if it burns a little bit of oil, it's not going to kill the engine. Most Honda engines burn a little bit of oil and that's normal, just ask any GSR or Type R or SIR owner and they'll tell you. I do mean a bit, not like a quart every 300 km, that's not normal.

i have seen a prelude 98 at a shop here with only
67,000 on it and it spun a bearing,,motor done and so is the
warranty.7500 gets the whole car..it is not mine but can
get contact to owner..

A bit of info on HONDA AND THERE H22 WARRANTY
They will do a oil consumption test , and if it burns
one liter of oil in 1500 km or less, they will rebuild it
If not , its considered NORMAL.
BEILEVE IT OR NOT!!!!!

Oh, and by the way, this is a FACT not FICTION!

I used to work at a GM dealer and its the same thing too if its more than 1500km its normal!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, my car burns about a litre every two weeks and I do 500km/week. You say if I go to the dealer, they will rebuild it?

Danny, call luciani acura, make an appointment for an
oil consumption test. They will keep the car for a few
days, and give you the results.Tel.# 340-9980, just
ask for steve, and he could set you up with the right
service advisor(for the appointment).
Buy the way,if it gets repaired be ready to lose some
power,till the motor loosenes up.
right now your oil control rings are worn out, but
your compression rings are probably not. This probably
is the reason your car has very good power.
Worn oil control rings means less resistance inside
the motor. Some piston companies sell low tension
rings(oil) with their pistons. The motor burns oil but
has more power.
