This thing is the first device to address both major problems with VR :
- Latency
- Field of view
It's just the first step, it will get better anyway.
Gamers who play with controllers might use it, but I don't see it catching on among the mouse and keyboard players
The first commercially available head movement based VR headset came with Rise of the Triads, a mouse/keyboard first person PC game of the 90's.
Of course it was a first person shooter, I don't think Starcraft players will find it very appealing.
You gotta put things in perspective bro....a controller is great for first person shooters, and mouse/keyboard too.
Gamers will find a way.
It'll fade out quick.
Not high res enough, plus you wont be able to game for more then an hour before your eyes start straining.
Who knows, maybe they will be uber successful, but i doubt it.
It's just the first step...it will get better.
The screens are filtered and polarized so they are not like cannons of light shooting at your head.
The Virtual boy was sitting on a table, it has nothing to do with the Oculus whatsoever besides the fact that you are looking at screens.
Every single doubtful or negative reply in this thread is catastrophically retarded.
"Yeah but what about the people who want to watch you play?"
"Yeah but the virtual boy was a flop"
LOL
