Ford 4.2 V6

The F-150 that my dad is looking at has this motor, It's pretty peppy but its not triton v8. Is this a good motor?

I haven't heard anything bad about them, but again, I haven't seen many V6 Ford trucks (the I6 ones are damn great).

yes the I6 ones are amazing I am telling him to get one of those

The old I6 was a very strong engine
The new V6 4.2 is a pieces of shift...dont touch !!!!
the manifold are always crack and at 160k the engine begin to have bizarre sound..........
go with the V8

yah, i'd go for the 4.6l v8 or even the 5.4l v8 as well, much better engines
and honestly,with a big pick up, the little 4.2l v6 is way too small ....
there is also no real world difference in gas comsumption either, the v6 would
work a whole lot more compaired to the v8 anyways , plus the 8 could haul and pull more as well .........

We had 2 of the F-150's with the 4.2 at my old work. They got beat on pretty good, and ran forever. They have ok power and did have some problems but not much more than any other motors really. BUT...we we also had to 92's with the 300 6 inline, those are tough!!!!

I like the 4.6 motors...pretty damn good motors IMHO. And I own a 4.6...not a Triton though...

Yes the I6s are great we had on in our old f-150 until we put the stang motor in
