Ouin j'aimerais bien une Ford Contour V6 manuel entre 95 a 97 peu pres....mais jai 20 ans...c tu fiable de 1???? tu cher a assurer??? du potenciel..etc....dite moi ske vous penser de cette auto la..merci!!!!!!!!
 
Personaly, I like those little cars. Never owned one, but I hear they're reliable and have much potential. The SVT's are extremely nice! Alot of people are swapping the 3.0 duratec from the Taurus' into the car, replacing it's 2.5 Duratec six. This seems to be a popular mod and well worth the effort. They can be made to be pretty good on the road circuit too.

As for insurance, I doubt it'll be anything shocking (after all, it's still a four door family car). I own a Ford SHO and insurance for that is peanuts, So the SVT version shouldn't be that bad.
 
They are extreamly fun cars, that mod quite well.......
there are a whole lot of things from suspension, brakes,engine's and drivetrains
even some body parts available though hi=po places ,check the www.contour.org
for more info, i have a few friends with modded contours and mystiques
your sure to see a few here on the west island !!
the cars prices did depreciate fast from new, you car find something decent
around 5 to 7000 easily, don't forget to have the car inspected well before purchase, most have had tough lives (read most have become second cars now)
the milages are up there as well, and some parts can be very expensive .....
i think insurance should be afFORDable, they are all 4 doors, and most insurance
agents don't know that thesecars are fast ....so good luck
 
Dsl JF mais c une v6 ke jveut........mais le duratec yé til bin a probleme????ou sinon prendre une 4cyl avec un swap 3.0 de taurus serais t"il envisageable.....les couts dun projet dememe serais kan meme abordable ou non ?...lekel serais le mieux ????? merci!!!!

It should be very possible to swap a v6 into the 4 cyl. car, but it's a lotta work and can be costly. The V6 car would be the best bet if you want to swap the 3.0L v6 into it, since you wouldn't have to change transmission, or much of the wiring & electronics (I think you'll be able to get by with just the 3.0L Duratec computer from a Taurus).

Or better yet, you can just buy my SHO, do no work at all and still be faster than that 3.0L Contour swap ;)
 
Le V6 Duratec est tres fiable et assez performant avec une transmission manuelle, meme dans la version de 170hp soit dans les Contours GL, SE, Sport...Ca vaut pas la peine de faire un swap de plusieures 1000$ pour le 3.0L a moin que ton moteur soit sauté et en plus les pieces aftermarket sont inexistantes et la main d'oeuvre pour ce moteur sont tres tres rare sinon introuvable au Quebec contrairement a ce que dit silver7, si tu veux modifier quelque chose la dessus il faut que tu le fasse toi-meme et que tu soit imaginatif...La seule chose negative a dire sur ce moteur c'est la faiblesse de la pompe a l'eau, elle lache a tout coup alentour de 100 000Km assure toi qu'elle ait ete changé sinon prevoit que tu auras probablement a le faire! Pour le prix tu peux probablement trouver un 98 avec un 6 cylindre en bas de 6000$ (j'ai vendu mon GL sport man 6000$ l'an passé avec quelques mods) Ca vaudrait la peine d'aller dans ce modele car les pre 98 n'ont pas beaucoup de valeur de revente...
Anyway gene toi pas si t'as d'autres questions en attendant tu peux regarder sur le site que silver7 tas donner c'est le meilleur site relatif aux Contours/mystique

BTW a 3.0L short block swap w/SVT heads into a Contour is faster than a SHO...My SVT is faster so imagine .5L more... ;)

the car scored well on everything except the water pump , they say approx $225. for the fix, not too bad i guess ....

btw "blacksvt", i said the parts were available to mod, i never said easily in quebec, or that they were cheep....., the guys i know seem to have had no trouble to get parts like, brakes,suspension,quaiffe diff,air intake,heavy duty clutch,and of couse all the stuff that is available from svt.
the body stuff i think was from euroupe (mondeo), but there is svt again, for
side skirts,frt and rear bumper covers,grilles ect .....

i'm sure this stuf is expensive, and you need conections ,but it does exist
and like you probably know allready, it's much more cool to be original, to mod
cars thay don't allways fit the norm, than do the same thing over and over on the same car as every one else !!!!

Way back when 337 had his old black sho, I was with him when he raced a Contour with your exact swap (3.0, svt heads, chip). That Contour was definetely a quick bugger, but the sho still came out first in the end.

Oh, BTW, I don't remeber 337 ever writing that his car was faster than a 3.0L duratec swap with SVT heads. He just said it was faster than the 3.0L duratec swap. :thefinger

Yeah right, as far as i know nobody here in quebec got this kind of swap? (rumors)
a 3.0L swap in a SVT tour can got 234Whp (WHEELhp) so the SHO must be highly modded to be in the front i guess but i was not there ?
And i raced many SHO's last summer and i can tell you that were all bad drivers or they were powerless ??? Anyway don't want to start a war i just answered the question below !
 
Yes! No wars please! Bandit (My brother) is right about that race, but I'll add that it is was really close (He really wasn't a happy camper after that though, he threatened to smash my car with a baseball bat, but I'll save that story for later). This was a year or two ago, and I think his car was stolen or something. I don't keep in touch with him anymore for obvious reasons.

Most sho's are kept in lousy mechanical shape since their owners don't even know to shim the valves every 100 000 Km's. Trust me this really adversly affects the way these cars perform...So who knows, that was maybe one of the factors with your races.

Very nice car, BTW! Are you coming with the Contour to that GTP Vs. SHO race this spring?
 
- Les contour/mystique valent presque pus rien malgré le fait que c'est des maudits bon chars. Je m'explique: Une mystique 96 V6 5 vitesses avec 125 000km avec A/C, cuir, toit ouvrant vaut moins chère qu'une civic 93 de base avec 200 000km.

- Jamais eu de problème avec la pomp à eau mais c'est vrai que c'est arrivé à du monde (j'aimerais ben savoir le vrai nombre de cas...)

- Les performances, autant coté accélération que tenue de route sont aussi bonne que ceux d'une BMW 325 de la même année (c'est pas moi qui l'invente, c'est écrit dans les vieux C&D)

- Ça prend pas grand chose pour faire dequoi de pas pire avec la voiture: des mags pour le look, un exhaust et un intake pour le son, les performances sont déjà là...

Me semble que ces chiffres etaient pour la version svt de la contour...
I am not too sure. it has been a while.
