Internet-forum debates are about to get a lot more real. GM released the first factory performance figures for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and the car appears ready to invalidate every import-supercar argument ever made against America's sports car.

You already know that it's blown LT4 makes 650-hp and 650 lb-ft. That potent engine, when paired with the new 8-speed paddle-shifted automatic, delivers a 0–60 time of 2.95 seconds. The quarter mile is vaporized in 10.95 seconds at 127 mph. That's with the available Z07 package, which includes the max-downforce aero kit, Brembo carbon-ceramics, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber. It also pulls 1.2 g on the skidbad. The previous best for any Vette was 1.13 g.

You prefer three pedals? With the seven-speed stick, the Z06 races to 60 in 3.2 seconds and hits the quarter in 11.2, again at 127 mph. The top speed has not been anounced, but 200+ mph is a foregone conclusion at this point.

With the available carbon-ceramic brakes, the Z06 drops from 60 mph to zero in 99.6 feet. The car will demolish road circuits—it's already a second faster around GM's Milford Road Course than the old ZR1.

Here's the best part: the starting price for the Corvette Z06 coupe is $78,995. Want to humiliate Ferraris in a convertible? The ragtop Z06 opens at $83,995.

For the sake of comparison, the Ferrari 458 Speciale starts at around $300K, the McLAren 650S starts at $265K, the Porsche 911 GT3 starts at $130K, the 911 Turbo S starts at $182K, the Lamborghini Huracan starts at $237K, and the GT-R NISMO starts at $150,000. Figure a loaded Z06 coupe with all the go-fast stuff should come in right around $100K.

The games begin in Q2 2015, when customer deliveries kick off and bench racing gives way to the real thing.

Is anyone else here thrown off by that 127 MPH trap speed? Seems a good 3-5 MPH too low.

Very impressive, im more shocked with the dodge charger hellcat though.

With DRs, it did a 10.7 @ 127. Dodge says it's capable and HAS hit a 10.5 with DRs in testing... stock..

What in the hell is going on here?

With 650 HP and 3300 LBS, this corvette should be in the 130s.

And with 707 horsepower at 4500 lbs. This charger should be in the low 120s. It sounds like the corvette is over rated and the charger is under rated in terms of power. Or the corvette figures are off.. Something is up.

BRB selling my house to buy a C7 Z06.
