hello,

is it worthwhile to get an 84 caprice 2-door with a 350? where can I get some information about this car? Does it normally come with a 350? Do 2-door caprices have the same thing as other normal 4-doors like the same frame, same tranny/differential and all that? I've seen a few 2-doors with a 307 that's why I ask (normally the caprice has a 305)...

i'm looking at an 84 seems really nice, gonna check it out. i've only had 305s though.. my buddy had a (i think) TBI 350 but it was a round caprice (93), the 84 im looking at would be surely carburated.

if there are any ppl in the know about this one then feel free ...!

It is worth it if that is what you want. It should be pretty much the same as a 4-door, sometimes the 2-door B-body cars came with sporty options like bucket seats with a console shifter and a posi differential. You can check the casting number on the back of the motor and look it up on mortec.com to see if it is a 350 or a 305. It is on the drivers side, behind the intake manifold sort of on a shelf above where the transmission bolts up. you may need a rag and a flashlight to find it.

yes he can have a 350 p.c. originaly in, check out de Serial Number on the car, he have same frame but not same dimensions on certainly pieces. The 8th "code" on the serial number was a letter and for the 350 is supposed to be a i give you the 81 impala specs, (A- 231 V6) (H- 5.0 V8) (J- 267) (K- 229 V6) (N-350 V8 Diesel)

If you find a gasoline 350 in a 1984 Caprice, it's not original - but might be interesting if someone else started a project. I believe 77-78s were the last years a 350 was available in a 2-door B-Body without a custom order - not that you would want one of these smoggers. If you're lazy, 4-door police paks came with some interesting goodies not to mention 350s and are more plentiful if not beaten up. I suggest you find a solid 2-door (which is not as easy as it sounds anymore) and transplant a better engine. Starting with a 267/305 engine compartment is a good idea as these are the same blocks as the 350 which will fit most of your brackets and accessories. In my area I have only seen 4 or 5 two-doors from 77-86 including mine. And they were not exactly "lookers". The last one (Caprice two-door) I saw for sale was asking 4000$ with an ageing but decent blue paint job and a stock 305. Impala/Caprice/Parisienne are all the same - with the exception of trim and light configurations. Asides from price which is much less for a four-door, suspension and drivetrain are pretty much interchangeable - but interior parts are another story. I have replaced the stock 2-door suspension with a police pak 4-door suspension with good results on mine. 307s were from Oldsmobile I believe - unless they are collector Chevy pieces. I had an Olds Delta '88 with a 307 - not much worth speaking about and they can't be modified unless you have your own machine shop and a lot of money. The boxy B-Bodies I have seen came with leftover 267s or 305s, wussy small 3-speed trannies and peg-leg 2.4:1 gears. There are a few 2-doors left in Khanawake if you take a ride through "town" you might see one for sale. You have an expert in your area (DDO) who goes by the handle CINO - he has gobs of experience with these cars and lots of contacts. PM me if you want more info.
