from many expats I know living there, it's the main thing that bothers them. All said they would not live there more than a few years as it is always heavily polluted (air).

these pictures are showing more "random" spots. Near big cities it's not that ugly, but the air quality is incredibly poor and bad for health.

C'est vraiment, vraiment triste.
Tout ça pour nous offrir des produits cheap et pas cher...

Better them than us right? I mean we all want the latest electronics even if the old unit we're replacing still works. Hooray consumerism!

They are going through their own industrial revolution.

Ouais, mais le trouble c'est que les révolutions nord américaines n'utilisaient pas autant de plastique et de chimique, c'était très axé sur le métal. je ne suis par expert et je ne connais pas les différences, mais ça me semblais moins pire ici...

Neither EdT nor counter-China MR-members are right. You think a wealthy person lives in these conditions? You think anywhere near a majority lives in these conditions? Do you know any 'real' Chinese people, not the Canadian-borns -- people who have lived in China for at least 15-20 years. If they had the means to move to another country, then they do not live in these conditions. Depending on EdT's attitude toward the lower class, he may not even really care.

China may be seen as 'communist' by Westerners, but it is not. They do not share the 'help a brotha out' mentality.

By the way, I don't like Chinese people and I complain about them often, but not the way it's done on MR. This thread is good; pictures are good. However, I'm afraid of the kind of interpretations that stupid people are likely to make based on these images as if every part of China is like this or that every part of Asia is like this. Then, I would be very offended.

This is the part where EdT says that nobody in his family has cancer or organ cysts, which is probably true.

Quand tu y penses!! C'est eux qui écopent pour nous donner la qualité de vie que nous possèdons en terme de matériel.

Remember the video of the kid getting run over multiple times? Prime example....

When the industrial revolution happened in America and Europe, the technology was "cleaner" meaning we didn't use advanced toxic chemicals to refine plastics, glass, silicates, petrol, lubricant, etc.

That's why it polluted less and killed less people, keep in mind that a lot of people were still killed by working in steel/glass mills, and other places like coal mines, etc.

Venez chialer que sa coute chere faire de quoi au Quebec, au moins on protege nos ressource et on travaille pas n'importe comment..

EdT wouldn't admit to that being part of Chinese culture, neither would lots of proud Chinese people. I have tried numerous times to use these examples to justify why China has such flaws, but most Chinese people don't listen to these kinds of arguments. Close-mindedness I agree.

The acid rain of the 19th and early 20th century in England and New England was ridiculous. A lot of workers also got many diseases (cancer and lung hemorrhage). This is heavily downplayed in schools when they teach history, but that's normal.

Life expectancy

11 Canada 80.7 78.3 82.9
36 United States 78.3 75.6 80.8
80 People's Republic of China (mainland) 73.0 71.3 74.8

Edt will never post in this thread since it's truth revealing and incriminating to China. He's a wuss that left his country to live in a way better "life quality" country. I find it very disturbing to ear constant arrogance from a deserter that would never be allowed to post on any forums, or be incarcerated or executed for stating his opinions if he stayed in his beloved country, yet appreciates every bit of comfort and quality of life america provides him, while promoting a way of life that jeopardize this same quality of life.
