News: Danica Patrick finished 8th at Daytona

She is currently 3rd after 55 laps. Daytona 500 currently on FOX right now and should run til about 4:30ish.

Like everyone else, Patrick took no chances. In the final lap, she was up there, hugging the wall, clinging to third. It never crossed her mind to swing out and risk it all for the win.

While she was hanging tough, visualizing the podium, a half-dozen more experienced drivers passed her on the inside.

Within sight of the finish line, she fell from third to eighth.

“I felt like, if I were to dive low, I had the feeling I was going to get freight-trained,” Patrick said afterward.

On the race more generally: “It was nice. It was calm most of the time.”

We can feel fairly certain those two sentences have never before been strung together by a NASCAR participant.

We salute the accomplishment. Few humans can do it, and Patrick is among them. Just finishing this race sets you apart.

But we were really hoping for a win. Not for her sake, but for ours.

If Patrick had won, we could stop talking about Danica Patrick the sideshow, and begin focusing on her as an elite driver.

Just made history as first woman to lead a lap at the Daytona 500.

Elle était troisieme jusqu'a environ 1500 pieds de l'arrivé....

Mais bon, solide performance je crois qu'elle a gagné du respect et GM devrait vendre une couple de SS bientot....
 
dhabitude il aurais sorti le yellow flag je comprend pas ! mais elle a fait une tres bonne course elle a vraiment du talent . et que dire des moteur toyota de JGR il comence ou ils on laisser 2 moteur sauté a 2 tour d'intervallle
 
it was a WTF moment when she spent the whole race in a podium placement...and in the last curve BANG she dropped to 8th
 
so what everybody is saying is the race was only interesting for the last 30 seconds....sounds about right for nascar :p
 
Pour avoir écouter toute la course je peux dire qu'elle a étét très intéressante et Danica a surement leve le pieds une fraction de seconde pour se faire depasse de cette facons la. Son spotter a du lui dire pour l'accident et elle a leve le pieds c'est la seul raison pourquoi elle c'est fait depasse ainsi.
