Discovery pls: Shark Week Edition

My jonathans have been scuffled: the discovery channel went full retard.


I love Shark week, I look forward to it every year like a lot of others but this is an all time low.

Anybody who saw it last night will understand what I'm talking about. For spoilers see below.

I remember back in the day when the discovery channel used to inform viewers with interesting shows and one off episodes for shark week and for that matter the entire rest of the year.

Look at the kind of shit they have on now:

Moonshiners
Weed County
Gold Rush
Sons of Guns
Pyros
Don't drive here
Last Car Standing
Auction Kings

I mean seriously Discovery channel?

Really?

And then the gem last night?

If I wanted to watch some bullshit rigged "reality tv show" I'd watch A&E or some other stupidity. It really shows the audience you're trying to appeal to/now currently have, which is a real shame. I used to really enjoy watching informative tv shows on your channel, shame I can rarely do that nowadays.

I hope that the rest of shark week can make up for it.

**SPOILER: Last night I was watching day 1 of shark week, which opened up an episode called: Megladon The Monster Shark Lives. Basically about a fake ship that sank by a whale breaching which turned out to be megladon, which prompted researchers to come to South Africa to investigate and of course they obviously find it but somehow without any photographs and some bogus reenactment. Not only was it a complete BS mockumentary of allegedly how megladon still exists but it was a MASSIVE waste of budget time and energy on the discovery channels part. If you look at how much money and effort went into faking this episode you could have easily funded shark research teams around the world in order to help preserve and understand the species better, rather than to "entertain" and convince viewers that this shit is real.**
 
They have some retard from epic meal time talking about fighting sharks with arms and legs.

Shark week is dead to me.
 
Today, the show at 9 was legit.. where they tagged great whites and followed them around with a mini submarine in Cape-Cod.
 
It's unfortunate that the standards of Discovery, and to a far far far greater extent TLC, have dropped so far down the IQ ladder.
 
Exactly the show at 9 was good that's the kind of stuff I like to watch. They used to have a show where they would go and catch sharks with a lowering bridge and they would lift it out the water to tag and take samples. I forget the name :s

All of those are dead.

I remeber when that happened to TLC 15-20 or so years ago. Use to watch this shit all day, great documentaries all the time. The it went from the learning channel to tender loving care for preggo mum bullshit. I've never seech so a massive fuckup in the whole of mankind... It went from having real enlightening stuff to fucking honey boo boo and shit.. And then discovery channel followed shortly after... Remeber Junkyard wars and fucking Robot wars? That was entertainment still, but not worthless reality tv entertainent...

I was so happy to get back into television with bell fibe.. IM GETTING NOTHING!!

Atleast when something good comes along I can record in advance..
And I gave up on TLC long time ago. Its solely a womens channel now. Brides maids, say yes to the dress, 4 houses, 4 weddings, WTF why did I agree to get this channel

OASIS, H2, NG, RAD-X, IFC, AMC, and DISCOVERY World has some cool stuff
