News: Dodge Dart missed sales target as inventory mounts

I think the Dart looks great and I'm not sure your opinion of the Dart looks are necessarily shared population/target market wide. If you have some data showcasing this please share. The Corolla is actually a great counter example, since it was never a great looking car, it's as bland and designless as a white 500$ fridge.

Price is much more of a factor in this segment than anything else, especially in the current economic context.

I hardly believe that lowering a 1000$ laptop by 20$ tripled your sales immediately....

my god your stubborn ... this was in 2002-2003 good laptops started @ 3000$. back when a 50" projection panel was 12000$+

if you’re volume is so low that profit margin generates low total dollars.

Hindustan Unilever, India's largest consumer goods maker, posted a better-than-expected 17 percent rise in net profit but disappointing sales volumes sent the company's shares down as much as 2.9 per cent.

High stock prices are hardly a way to measure a company's health, Nortel comes to mind.

And GM and Chrysler had high volume, low profit sales before they both declared bankruptcy.

But my point remains, you triple your sales by lowering your price by 60$ on a 3000$ laptop?

Started at 3000$... most sales i did were in the 4-5000$ including accessories

I would drop 100-150$ if they bought accessories( higher profit margin). And yes i did triple my sales in the month of nov-december, doubled most of the other months. I would even give discounts on extended warranty because its 100% profit.

Also, the more you buy from a distributor the lower your purchase price becomes, increasing your profit margin.

Have you ever done sales ??

On an accounting standpoint 100% profit on extended warranties is false. Extended warranties = provisions (estimated)= future expenses = not 100% profits. Plus provision = liability = less interesting financial ratios. I know they make a lot of money with extended warranties but saying it is 100% is false.

Have you ever done accounting?

Hold on while I gasp in amazement that your sales increased before Christmas.....

You went from 2% drop tripled your sales to 3% drop plus a pile of high profit extras doubled your sales.

Anyways, yeah I sold new cars, moved 150,000$ worth of chryslers in 3 weeks and then quit because I felt like killing myself. I spent 90% of my time staring at the wall. lol it was horrible

my faith in humanity is restored, im glad there's not enough suckers in the world that would buy a $31k dodge dart.

The only people who find the dodge Dart beautiful are the ones that lacked attention when they where younger. Dart is ugly, it's suppose to look sporty while it's one of the least sporty cars you could own. Heck a mazda 2 is sportier than the dart. With the 1.4l turbo, with mega turbo lag. This car was designed to be economical thats it. The design doesn't fit with the purpose.

For 2012, it looks better than the corolla, civic, 3, impreza, Elantra, Jetta, sentry

And who made you king of car design judgement? The only people that lacked attention as a child are those who believe they hold the universal truth about what is beautiful and what isn't.
