It's official, the Scion FR-S can drift. Formula Drift driver, Ken Gushi, made a short trip to Japan to test out his future drift car.

Any car with decent power can drift on a wet/damp surface...including a FWD car.

J'ai pris ma mr2 tantôt (je vais poser mes pneus d'hiver tantôt), bordel je voulais même pas drifter et ça partait sideways partout.

Effectivement, si jme fit au annonce a la télé, mazda 3, 5, 6 drift assez bien. Ca prend une vidéo pour prouver ca. Cest possible de faire derapper nimporte quel véhicule. La question devrait plutot etre est ce que la fr-s sera lsd?

Moi j'ai drifté avec un Westfalia 1980 aujourd'hui. lol J'aurais jamais cru ca possible.... je venais de remonter le moteur (pistons, sleeves, tetes, valves, ect) pis lors du road-test y'avait des rues dans le quartier avec une p'tite couche de neige tapée. Sur les pneus d'été c'était facile en 2e vitesse avec des clutch-kicks et des shift-locks... j'ai eu ben du fun!

i just leased a 2011 scion tc, but once my lease is up in 4 years, i'll probably be getting into a fr-s. at least i really want to.

All the buzz around this car reminds me of before the genesis came. Everyone was going crazy now mostly middle aged women drive them.

The genesis doesn't have a rev happy engine, a light weight and a factory LSD (on base model). And it's really ugly. The FRS is light enough and a bit less ugly (still the biggest deal breaker for me, more than it's price or low power).

Pour l'avoir essayé l'année dernière quand j'ai sorti de l'entreposage... j'ai eu la chienne.

Ce qui est dangereux c'est surtout l'understeer je trouve, le devant pèse pas grand chose et si t'a peu d'adhérence c'est dur de le loader et pas barrer les roues en freinant.

Clearly a marketing stunt by Toyota. Anyone with half a brain knows that a RWD-LSD car with power can drift. The control is the issue. That's why I don't consider RWD cars without LSD to be 'able' to drift. Sure, losing traction is easy, but controlling the drift becomes difficult. In the case of this car, I'm sure the lightweight body helps. We won't know until we sit in the cockpit and actually try it ourselves.
