En arrière je vois plein de mouton édentés
It's funny to see all the POS legacy media outlets and the brainwashed mases rush to "correct" Trump on who pays.
In typical Trump fashion, he is correct on promoting the overall benefit but fails miserably at explaining it properly.
Plain and simple, tariff protect national interests. Let use simple math for simple mind.
If China can produce something for $10USD and an American company (manufacturing in the USA) can only manage to do $12USD, well the supplier buys from China and effectively the dollars leave the country.
If you slap a 25% tariff, yes, the consumer pays that extra $2.50 but the benefit is not the $2.50 but the fact that the local business is probably going to instead get the business. At first the prices do increase but the real magic happens when the money stays inside the USA.
There's now a worker who's paid, a business owner making money. Their paycheck gets recirculated into the local economy hopefully to another USA business, essentially making everyone richer. As the velocity of money increases, life improves.
Basically tariffs shouldn't be arbitrary penalties but a way of standardization. China with it's quasi slave labour and non existant safety standards can undercut western business for this reason. A tariff can correct these differences and protect a nations wealth from being siphoned away.
In this case they were used differently, a threat more akin to a parent saying clean up you room or else you get no dessert.
Ultimately it worked since he got what he wanted.
Lastly, LMAO at the idiots who can't give him the win. The whole "he got nothing because we already said we'd do most of it in December" is a laughable matter. News flash, he's threatened tariffs since the election win (November) and God knows our incompetent leadership talks a big game and then doesn't follow through and/or fails spectacularly if they do. This was a get it fucking done now moment, they have 30 days.
