I know how much people are interested in this, so I thought I'd share. I haven't read the article yet, but felt like posting it here. I just read the "wrap-up"s section:

We're not going to beat around the bush -- in our approximation, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone on the market right now. The combination of gorgeous new hardware, that amazing display, upgraded cameras, and major improvements to the operating system make this an extremely formidable package. Yes, there are still pain points that we want to see Apple fix, and yes, there are some amazing alternatives to the iPhone 4 out there. But when it comes to the total package -- fit and finish in both software and hardware, performance, app selection, and all of the little details that make a device like this what it is -- we think it's the cream of the current crop. We won't argue that a lot of this is a matter of taste -- some people will just prefer the way Android or Symbian works to the iPhone, and others will be on the lookout for a hardware keyboard or a particular asset that the iPhone 4 lacks -- but in terms of the total picture, it's tough to deny that Apple has moved one step past the competition with this phone. Of course, in the hyper-accelerated smartphone market where the Next Big Thing seems to always be just around the corner, it's anyone's guess how long they keep that edge.

Enjoy trying to find more reasons to hate on it, anti-apple fanboys. And no, I'm not planning to buy one.

I agree it's a beautiful machine, looks much better than the previous model. I just don't get why people need to upgrade every yr for i.e.; "milliseconds of faster zooming"...

I have a friend who's a applefan. she owns a macbook, ipod, iptouch, iphone 3gs, and is considering buying the ipad or the iphone 4. So I asked her if u have all that why do u need the i4 or the ipad?

She replied; My macbook is too heavy for my purse, my iphone is too little to check stuff."

I face palmed.

Does she drive a volks too? Is she blonde? haha

I agree that she's being completely ridiculous with her reasons. I bought an iPad, but I have my own, productive reasons for it.

I was actually planning on buying the iPhone 4 to replace my iPhone 3G. Reason being is that I can easily sell my iPhone 3G to someone who doesn't want a plan for $200. I don't mind having a contract AT ALL, so I would get the iPhone 4 as an upgrade, keeping my current plan which is far better than what anyone could get on a new plan.

I'm a fan of some apple products, but only because I know they work well for certain applications. I have a few PC boxes at home that I run as HTPC's and desktop PC's, which I know are best for those needs. It just boggles my mind how you can hate Apple itself; it's reverse-fanboyism.

i don't hate apple, I myself owned a couple of ipods and the itouch. And even though i move everywher e with my music, i've also had problems with having to reboot it, having it to freeze, having to reformat or sudden loss of music. with many different models of ipods/itouch.

I can't hate on the iphone but i don't like it (i own a bb and i don't need what the iphone has to offer. )

That's reasonable thinking. I do the same, and I've actually recommended Blackberry's to a lot of my friends, just because it would suit them better.

I just don't understand how people can be all "pro-mac" or all "against-mac".

Can i buy an used iphone to use it as an ipod touch with photo and GPS? and could use it with "a la carte" billing for calls?

Joshua Topolsky who is an editor at Engadget is a big apple fanboy.
He went to great lengths to even remove the comparison of EVO 4G and Iphone 4 where EVO 4G was winning . And he even admits it.

J-Money, next time you post something, make sure you post neutral stuff which isn't SUBJECTIVE but OBJECTIVE.

Actually, the reason he pulled it down is because it wasn't a fair comparison since the phone hasn't even released yet.

Either way, I'll admit it. The EVO 4G is better.

Do I care? Nope. No one does, except for you. I'm pretty sure you're just AI created by Google to troll forums and argue how amazing it is.

And according to you, anyone who prefers the iPhone over anything is an Apple fanboi. Bias much?

I'm not sure about the whole GPS thing, but you can use it on "airplane mode" where it removes the connectivity to the network, but still retains all it's other features. And you can take any phone off-contract and use it on a prepaid service, I believe.

I don't care that people buy iPhone, if they like it good for them,I don't and I hate Steve Jobs/Apple with a passion for all the stupid stuff he says and does to his "mostly" n00b/stupid users. The only thing I don't agree/like is when people don't acknowledge there's other stuff out there, and for some people it's much better then iOS.

I completely agree. I've said it numerous times in many threads that I'm a fan of the Android OS. For one, it'll help keep the competition on the market.

But I sit on the other side of the "fence" as you. I have a few Apple products, and I hate when people think/say "YOU HAVE AN IPAD? THAT'S USELESS." I've seen so many "reverse-apple fanboys" that jump on the new trend of hating on Apple products without even knowing, or using one.

It might be useless to you, but it's a great tool for what I use it for. And the one thing that it has that no other similar product will have is the App-development it has. I know quite a few engineers who HATE Apple, but want to develop apps for it because it's so easy, and allows them to try to make a buck, or at the very least "practice" their programming skills.
