FMIC and emissions

might sound like a silly question, but can a FMIC effect emissions in any way? If so, in what way?

i dunno about this one , but logic says that if you put more air in your engine , there's more exiting it , still if it burns well and your cat does the job there should't be any problems

Do you mean a FMIC as opposed to a TMIC ou SMIC? If so, it shouldn't affect anything. If anything, since your engine will be more efficient, it should help emission. But I don't think that any effect, good or bad, will be drastic enough to warrant attention.

Yes technically it would if you think about the utility of a FMIC. When you do choose to go with a FMIC its normally because you are upgrading from a SMIC that is not providing sufficiens cold air into your motor. And since colder air means more oxygen molecules in the surcompressed air mean that the detonation will be stronger and crisper. So yes a good FMIC should change your emission but for better or worse I could not tell you.

(fyi, bigger IC doesnt mean more air coming in... thats what porting is for)

thanks for the answers guys... and yes, it would be an upgrade from the factory SMIC which gets heatsoaked very quickly with my setup. However, emissions testing might be a concern as i will possibly have an emissions test to do when i export my car to Europe...

yah see ferni if u had gone stand alone like i told u to back then u could have opened up ur wastegate and leaned out the mixture in na to pass the test but who listens to me hnnn. now this is just me thinking logicly isnt the emissions test a sniffer test where the car sits and the collect gases? if it does work that way having a frunt or a side mount wouldnt chage anything because the car is standing still. a ic that doesnt have any air passing through it is as useless as not having one :)

i had the chip before ur attempt to brain wash me with the stand alone :D

worst comes to worst i can get a program done just so that i have very low hp numbers and low emisssions but Dahlback garanties TUV certification on its program... but thats for the tip!
