Hello all,
I'm not very active on MR that much anymore (mostly in the motorcycle section now), but I would just like to share a link to a GoFundMe for a friend in need.
Some of you might know Reyem who works at Merson Garage at the corner of St-Jacques and Cavendish. His old Instagram account used to be "@StanceRey" because he knew exactly how to align cars that were lowered, cambered, stanced, race-ready, etc. He's a young father with 3 kids at the age of 31, and is the sole provider for his family. He worked long hours to make sure that his family was comfortable enough so that his wife could be a stay-at-home mom, and raise his 3 wonderful children.
On Saturday, June 18th at Eurokracy, he brought his K20 swapped EK for a few laps on the track, with me riding shotgun in the passenger seat. During the few laps on the shorten course, he passed a MK6 GTI, and caught up to a blue Honda S2k (who let him pass...). When the laps were over and he parked the car, I jumped excitedly out of the car he built with his bare hands. He seemed a bit out of it, so I helped him out of his driver's seat. Right away, he asked me to remove his helmet because he needed to throw-up. I thought he was having a heat-stroke, so I ran back to our spot to get some water.
The event was held at iCar, and obviously they're well prepared for any emergency situation. In all the commotion, I didn't think to ask the paramedics, but in the 2 minutes I had ran to get water, the paramedics were already attending to him when I came back. At first, they thought he was diabetic, and only at the St-Jerome hospital is where we noticed that he had lost function of his left side. His vitals were fine, and after a few scans, they barely found signs of a clot. Up until now, the doctors are still wondering how a stroke came and went.
He is currently doing physio everyday at a rehabilitation center, and is slowly regaining function to the affect areas. He's a long way to go to being back at the garage, and since it didn't happen at work, CSST will not provide.
One of his co-workers have started a GoFundMe to help provide for his family. Any kind of donation is very kind, and much appreciated.
