Where can I get, 3-4 litres of Honda Manual Transmission Fluid? Yeah aside from the dealer, but just in case what is their price?

Yeah really? Same stuff?

I would not think so, they don't have the same wear properties

as for getting it I would rather use a reputable brand like Royal Purple, Red Line as an equivalent replacement

Buy Only honda oil for your tranny I think is 5-6$ each.

just buy it from honda... you will need like a couple liters, its not that expensive
10w30 is only a temporary replacement, DO NOT use it for extended periods of time!

So the dealer then, I was hoping to find some kind of place on line that sold the genuine stuff.

Just for information, I want to put this in my Saab 900 Turbo. Saab said "never change the oil" and to top it off with 10w30. Of course, after 250 000km the original oil is crap... Plus the trannies on the 900 Turbo (old style) are extremely weak [or the engine is way too powerful for the tranny] floor it in 2nd on snow and when the tires hit asphalt boom tranny explodes haha. I've been getting a grind when going from 1-2 recently but a lot of people in the Saab world have put Honda MTF and the trannies have shifted much much nicer.

Maybe that's part of the reason why Hondas shift so nicely... at least until they get heavy milage.

Has anyone ever tried some aftermarket stuff in your trannys? Ive heard also amazing things about GM syncromesh friction formulae, and some royal purple and redline stuff. But the Honda stuff is much less expensive I think, so it would be a decent economical choice, since I would consider it a bit better then 10w30 at least. I bet these guys got the idea since in Honda repair manuals it always says that 10w30 can be used as a temporary replacement for Honda oil, however should not be used for a substantial amount of time... i guess its word association.

But either way, you dont need to be shy of walking into a Honda dealer... I dont know if its becasue you have something against Honda, but they dont care if its for a SAAB or anything.

I guess I'm used to the Saab dealers... "what kind of car is that?" "uh it is a Saab" "a Saab? oh YEAH we sell those too!" It's always a good idea to bring some lube to the Saab dealer because if you need to get parts you're going to need it

Lots of people have tried the Redline MTL but apparently it isn't very good on trans life, a few people have tried the GM Synchromesh and it's supposed to be very good. But most people just try the Honda MTF and love it so I want to see what I'm missing

A redline rep once told me: For the hondas tranny, put nothing else than the oem from the dealer. Sorry to burst your bubble but the myth about redline and GM synchromesh fixing grinds is pure bs. It hides the grinds but the damage will be greater after some times. The reason is that those oils are too ''slippy'' for the synchros of the honda's tranny. The honda MTF oil is thickier and thats what the synchros need.

Anyway thats what he told me and I tend to beleive him. Honda engineer must have figured out what oil is the best to put in their tranny no?

Well, we also have the play with the factor that Honda needs something effecient (in terms of cost) and practical. Spending millions on tranny fluid research im sure is not their idea of efficient.

However I understand what you are saying, and its a good way to look at it. I have honda MTF right now, Im still considering syncromesh but its not worth trying anytime soon.
