Importing a VGA Bike to Quebec

Hey guys I got a quick question;

I am looking at importing a VGA 1000cc sport-bike from the states in order to save some money. (GSX-R1000 or ZX-10R 2003+)

My question is, it’s incredibly hard to find a VGA Sport bike here so I’m looking for a Salvaged bike in the states, but before I make any moves I need to know if the same rule applies. If it’s a salvaged/rebuilt bike from USA, will it be plated Artisanale here?

I looked in SAAQ site, M4E, RIV, etc and found barely any or irrelevant info.

Has anyone done it?

How is it when it comes to plating and insuring 1-way (fire/theft) here in Quebec with a VGA bike from the states?

I have never had a VGA car/bike before, if fully inspected and found to be done right, are they a headache to own?

Any info would be much appreciated. A proper read-up would be great.

Thanks.

it won't be artisanale but rebuilt.
once rebuilt.

you need to know that if you import it as a salvage title.
you need to have a file with picture and receipt of part that you have charge to be able to pass inspection.
ps.: importing inplicate that you buy taxe on the book value of the bike..not on the price paid....if not you need to have a evaluation be done to reduce the price...and the cost vs the $$ saved rarelly worth doing it.

if it's a rebuild title..it's the same process as a regular bike.

with the price of bike in quebec....there's really no reason to buy over the broder.

I used to have a salvage business buying and selling salvages bikes/cars and parts in the states.

Let me tell ou that there isnt any money to be made this way. There's plenty of good deals on bikes in Quebec, the tag fees are so high that this has driven the prices lower than in the states.

For a car... it's worth it sometimes more specificaly hard to find cars. For a bike forget it the bikes fetch a lot of money and you can get bit if you buy w/o being there. Sometime the frame will be bent and you cant tell from pictures.
