i will never understand why the USDM front end ever came to fruition. not that it's ugly (which it is), but why change it so drastically just because it was going to be sold in north america. did they do some kind of market research to know that we like ugly beaty eyed headlights? i mean, it cost money to do...and people don't typically throw money away for nothing....so what was the logic behind 2 front ends?

They had it in Japan but buyer dislike it so much, they put together a new front end ressembling the old model. But in NA, the 4headlight front was a good seller, so they keep it for that market. Same goes with the bug eyes subies

that made me read your post in an asian accent.

so...the round lights was the ORIGINAL design? wtf they have no business going on that car and don't go with a single line on it. for sure i thought the new "DA" lights were the plan A and the round lights was plan B for fat bad taste having americans.

and what of the subbi bug eyes? ( maybe not aware). as i know it, that's not a comparison. bug eyes were the gen after the GC (nicest subaru built). going off memory, bug eyes were international 00-02; bug eye was hated by everybody, beloved by few; bug eye was dropped internationally, and facelifted internationally to croc eye 03-05 at midway through the generation...like almost every orther car brand does. i could be wrong, but i don't think it's relatable.

The comparison with the Impreza was only to show that both dropped because of those round headlights.

And this is from wiki about the 'teg
Honda debuted the third generation model in 1993 in Japan. Acura followed in 1994. It had an unusual four headlight front end design which was dubbed "bug eyes" by some enthusiasts. Standard power from the B18B engine increased to 142 hp (105.9 kW).The top model was known in Japan as Integra Si, and it was powered by a B18C engine with a power of 178 PS (131 kW; 176 hp) . The bug eye headlights proved unpopular so the Integra was revised in 1996 with only minor cosmetic updates including elongated flat headlights and an optional bodykit...

And guess what, they even got that as an Integra :yikes:
