News: Koenigsegg Regera: 1500 HP, 0-248mph in under 20 seconds!

Koenigsegg's type of R&D is actually the cheapest form available to car manufacturers, he does little to no real world hands on testing of his cars. They are, for the most part, computer simulations.

Expensive R&D is real world testing across numerous climates going through each and every possible real life scenarios of failures to improve on a car. Read up on Porsche's Metzger engine, real life hands on R&D that produced one of the greatest engine block of all time. Every single failure of an engine was followed by a meticulous tear down and examination and many of his findings could not be replicated in computer simulations. Heck even Pagani managed to drive the Zonda for over 1MM kilometers.

Koenigsegg builds show car and collection pieces for a couple Arabs that want the latest on paper bragging rights. God forbid they actually drive the car for a couple thousand miles, I'd love to see what happens then.

This goes to prove my point, after all these years our only comparative data is from Gustav beating a Veyron Vitesse under amateur conditions on YouTube. GTRs with 100,000$ under the hood have been doing this for year.

He completely backtracked on his negative remarks about hybrids by putting out a elementary school level PR release about how the Regera isn't actually an hybrid because it uses a one speed transmission with 4 engines, how the fuck is this not a hybrid? Then we are supposed to believe the Regera is the class leading hyper car of this generation with never seen before tech and the most powerful ICE and electric motors? Another day, another bullshit claim by Koenigsegg.

CVG and his small inexperienced team supposedly did all this in a couple months after understanding nobody cared for the One:1 as it wasn't what the market was expecting at all from this current crop of hypercars. Christian should be ashamed of selling 1.5MM computer simulations.

I honestly feel he shouldn't be CEO of this company as he clearly lacks vision and coherence, relate him to engineering and have someone else establish cohesion within this company. He should take some cues from Pagani and find his own niche. You don't get to play with the big boys that easily.

This is why the former majority owner of Koeniggsegg abandoned ship in 2010. No confidence in the management team, and it's not profitable enough to waste time on either.

You sound like you're talking from experience though, have you ever driven one?

Why should Koenig(...) test there cars in numerous climates? Why do they need a "race pedigree" to be relevant? I don't understand that line of thinking.

It's clearly not what they are aiming for.
