I mean with what shit box did they contemplate that distance because a car that can achieve that speed typically has a decent set of brakes on it too.
When you double the speed you traveling at you are quadrupling your cinetic energy thus your stopping distance.
When you tripling your speed it's 9 times. It's basic physics.

And you have to realise laws are made for all kind of cars and all kind of drivers. And in Quebec you have to add the condition of the road...

You proved my point perfectly. Let me think it through for you, since obviously you did not.

Firstly, any place I'd even fathom going that fast would be a major highway which significant potholes are extremely rare even on our shit hole roads.

Next I don't know about you but on my regular routes I can tell you exactly where the ruts, cracks and imperfections are. Example in Vaudreuil on the 40 East, it's a lot better now but for a long time there was a bump just before the overpass near Chateau Vaudreuil. Left lane was bad, middle lane was ok and it was nothing at all in the right lane. A quick trip to Mexico on a well known highway brings the possibility of a pothole from rare to lottery level odds.

But let's say your luck runs out one day and there is a pothole, do you understand that at a certain point faster is better. Let's do some math. 250kph= just a bit under 70 m/s. I'm being very generous by saying a 5cm deep imperfect would be enough to unsettle the car. At free fall acceleration it would take your tire about 0.1s to fall 5cm. So the pothole would essentially have to be 7m wide for your tire to drop 5cm and impact the far side. Even at 1cm deep and faster than free fall speed due to the spring, you'd still need a pothole that is more than a meter long.

At this point it's so absurdly impossible I'd believe you more if you said you didn't want to drive that fast because you specifically worry the Pope might might be crossing the road.

So yeah, a lot of fear mongering based on emotions and outlandish "what ifs" when many of the dangers/variables can be controlled or mitigated by a thoughtful driver to the point they are less dangerous than the average octogenarian on the road.

And please don't get me wrong. It sounds like most if not all these geniuses in the article deserve the title but at the same time it also wrongly gets the Matantes into full blown Karen mode about anybody who dares drive faster than the posted speed limits. That's what I take issue with.
All I hear is: Me, myself and I. We all know you're a good driver, congratulations but you don't own the road. You have to share it with other drivers. You're the Karen who keeps complaining about the speed limit tickets by the way.
