I think we have a very different definition of what ''old'' is. 10 year old car for alot of diy'rs is nothing if its not rusted out.
And financially, considering average car payment are 800 a month, even if you are very bad lucked with breakdown and its costs you 5k in repair that year, you are still in your wallet. More so if you do your own repair.
Anyway thats my opinion, if one day I can really no longer find parts for older cars then I'll have no choice to buy those ipad/data gatherer on wheels. But I guess by that time, we'll no longer drive anyway....
